2 year old Eskimo Z51 ice auger - gas cap cracked

I need a new gas cap asap. My search has not been fruitful. Any thoughts on a local service center to pick one up?

Calling the manufacturer will only delay my fishin'!!

I picked up a new cap with the vent for my strikemaster at Joes. Gander had caps also. Not sure if there is somthing unique with eskimo? I would think they are all pretty similar.

Mine cracked too last year (same model as yours), I ordered a new one from the manufacturer over the off-season. Thinking though that I should get a better one since their model seems to have a flaw.

me too but be warned I got a new gas cap from eskimo and its a new style it has a screw vent cap and it doenst fit the auger all the way tight gas leaks out of it gander doesnt have them you have to order them from eskimo and they are not cheap! so now i have a new gas cap but it doesnt fit my gas tank!

when you get your new cap before you use it take a small board and a peice of 400 grit sandpaper and sand the filler tube flat before you fill with gas. then the cap will seal without cranking it so tight that it cracks.Mine leaked from day one until i sanded the burrs off tube.

I picked up a gas cap for my old eskimo auger at Fleet Farm. I think it was close to $10. Located in the ice fishing section near the blades, ect. Fit right on with no leaks.

I found a new one for my Eskimo Mako at the L&M in Grand Rapids. It was $15.00 ! None of the others (including the other Eskimo cap with the vent screw) were an exact fit.

I lost th ecap for my Jiffy and found a replacement at a Hardware Hank in Roseville that had a service center. I would think any hardware store that services small engines would have replacement caps.

I agree with the eskimo caps-they warranted mine but the ney cap tends to leak a bit if you set the auger down on the ice for a period of time--try sportsmans warehouse in coon rapids

Love the auger, just doesn't make sense that few places carry the gas cap. Go to just about any retailer that sells Jiffy or Strikemaster and they have packaged gas caps available. But the eskimo retailers don't carry them. Talked to Eskimo (Ardisam) customer service and was told they have no idea what retailers carry additional caps.

I'd need to drive/call around town looking or order from eskimo directly and wait 4-7 days for it in the mail.

Beware - My cap split around the top edge. I think this was due to over tightening the cap possibly.

Solution - buy a spare or risk a week of down time.

Same thing with my cap, but that's because I dropped it on the cap.DUH!!

But I picked up a generic w/screw vent replacement cap at Gander in MG, and it fits perfect no leaks.

The generic cap I tried went on but didn't seem to have the same tight fit as the original. Not willing to risk leaking gas all over my pickup and gear.

After making 3 phone calls, I got my new gas cap in the mail yesterday. It is a different design than the original so hopefully I won't have any cracking issues. Can't afford any down time!
