My friend Brian was fishing in 15 feet of water with a large shinner four feet off of the bottom when this 41.5 inch ` 19 3/4 inch girth Northern Pike decided to feed! He released the pig to be caught another day.

Out of curiosity, how big was the shiner?

It was the largest one in the bucket... couldn't guess how many inches however.

Thanks for the comments guys, I wish it was a fish I had caught as well! grin.gif

Rumor has it this exact fish was just caught last weekend for the second time this year.... Waiting to confirm the visible scar down the right side of the body.

Unfortunately whoever caught it kept it and is putting it on the wall......

Oh well at least I extended 1 person the opportunity to land a hog.

that stinks if that fish isn't swimming anymore, but i have seen smaller pike on walls. i think more people need to be enlightened to the world of the graphite replica. i have a large mouth and a walleye on my wall, i will never kill another trophy, when i can get a nice looking replica. cool.gif

Thats a great looking fish! Hopefully it has a twin swimming in the same waters. I know an area in the Phantom Flowage that holds many very large Pike like that and plan on hitting it again this spring for some catch, photo and release fishing.
