CD Player 03 Ford Truck wont play. "Bad Disk"

LaZyDayZ

Question

My cd player recently stopped working. At first it would not play burned cd's now it wont play anything.

I put a disk in and it looks at it for a minute then kicks it out with a screen message of "Bad Disk"

I have sprayed it out with compressed air. Bought a decent cd cleaner but even putting the cleaner in it says bad disk.

I noted the direction I had the cd in when inserted it and when it ejects with "bad disk" message the disk is in a different position leading me to believe it is spinng.

Any suggestion?

Not worth taking in to get fixed cuz you can buy a new one at best buy or circuit city for $100 plus a mounting kit for about 20 and a wire harness for 20 and you get free install. just my .02 Good luck J.P.

I waould say its broke. The cheapest alternative would be to replace with aftermarket as mentioned above. But why stop at a new Radio? A couple of amps some 12" subs, new mids and tweeters, and might as well update those 6"rounds in the door! As long as that is done might as well get your self a custom interior, 27 monitors, custom paint, 24" color matched wheels with spinners, and a strut grill! grin.gif

Seriously though, give the guys at dealer automitive services a call (DAS). I think they are located in Roseville. If your interested in repairing or finding out if it can be fixed.

I would just replace it with a newer type. I have one that plays MP3s recorded on CD, one disk has over 160 songs, I can sing from my house to Kansas City and back..... grin.gif

If it's a cheaper model stock radio, watch hsolist. There's always people on there dumping their stock radios after they buy an aftermarket one, which I don't understand.

Why wouldn't you keep the stock radio and put back in when you sell the vehicle??

Anyways, sometimes you can pick up a stock one for $20-30, especially the lower end stock radios.

Here's a link to "Ford cd radio" on hsolist..

[Please read forum policy before posting again, Thank you]

Also, I had a 1999 F-350, so I'm not sure if your radio is still the same or not. It had a safety deal on it, where there's 2 little holes on each side of the radio, 2 on the left, 2 on the right.

Basically Ford sells a little tool that you put in there so it'll pop the pins so you can pull the radio out. The trick is, just use a wire coat hanger, where you bend 2 pieces of wire in a "U" and can put in the holes, then you can slide your radio out, IF you're in that same situation.
