Jiffy Stealth STX-good or bad?

Hello all,

I am considering purchasing the Jiffy 2 H.P. Stealth STX 8" power auger. The main reason I am looking at this model is the cutting head for reopening holes in my permanent fish house. I have heard that this is the machine to go with for this application.

What is your experience with this particular model-good or bad?

Thanks!!!

Justin

One more question...is this auger's ablility to drill normal holes as good as a strikmaster??

I have a 2 hp 8" Stealth and it drills everything with no problem what ever. I have had it for 4 years and sharpened the blades one time for something to do. I think it drills fast, but I have never had it to the ice auger races. wink.gif

I myself have a 10" Jiffy Stealth the regular stealth model not the STX though I have never figured the difference out. They are a sweet drill. Mine is very dependable even with the blades slightly dull you can still get a hole to fish were other shaver type blades might struggle. The down fall is that they heavier. Of course I have the heaviest with a 10" 3 HP and I still love it. Great drills though and I would heasitate to buy another myself.

Yes there is not much difference between Stealth and STX. Stealth is the first generation and STX is the second generation of Stealth.

So the bottom line is the three warranty on STX blades. Yes the metal used in the STX is different that Stealth and standard units.

The STX units offer a three warranty on the blades, two years on gear box and the 1 year warranty on the engines is the same for booth.

Yes the gear boxes are the same in booth units, they are just offer a stronger warranty on the best they have to offer.
