five guys three deer two guys didnt see anything all weekend and my bro missed an 8 pointer sunday his buddy missed a big doe sunday it was the only deer that they saw.I myself was busted by a buck opening morning then about half hour later passed on a spiker then around 10am shot a 120lb doe saw another doe sunday no shot at it. monday morning 645am shot a 170lb 5pointer then about 10am shot a big doe and a nubbin buck but as I was getting down from the stand the doe got up and ran away found blood at point of impact but none anywhere else. searched and searched for sign and the deer with another guy but no luck . I think this is the first deer that has ever not been found by me ,not a good feeling to have.

We shot 8 for 14 opening weekend, actually only 13 hunted each day. I saw 10 deer from my stand or very near it from the ground before 11am Saturday. I shot a small 6 that I thought was a doe (I was shooting through logged popple regrowth) & another doe. Took some hide & tallow off the front of another doe, must have nicked the brisket. I'm still convinced I hit what I think was a nice 8 pointer or possibly 10 earlier, but could find no sign & he didn't stop. All of his body language indicated hit & it was an easy shot. The shots I made were much tougher.

We shot 5 bucks, all yearlings or very small racked 2 1/2 year olds. Nice deer, but nothing racks. The other three were just nice average does. Three of us shot two each & two other guys got one each.

My brother added a nice 8 pointer on Monday hunting with paceman near Frazee, that was his second deer of the season. Paceman got doe #3 that morning while we were there.

Everyone in our party saw some deer over the weekend. I think three of them didn't shoot at any.

3 for 4 in my camp. Funny thing is I shot all 3 before 9:20 Saturday! The others seemed to lose some desire after that as they couldn't keep up. 2 small does and an 8. Skidded in on one stringer. Here's a pic:

I'll be back Friday for Kid's weekend. One more and I'm done.

Myself and a buddy hunted a few miles east of Ottertail lake on my 100 acres. He got 2 does sat morn and a doe sat eve at the end of shooting time. I got 2 sat afternoon on the way to my stand at 3 pm but one ran to the nieghbors and they unloaded. I decided not to say anything. We really shook up our main woodlot with our slough sat eve tracking the doe that my buddy shot. I believe thats why we didn't see anything sun morn. oh well... worth it to find the doe. Not alot of shooting in the area and alot of people that we talked to at Bens bait and shoreline didn't see anything. I was very suprised with how many deer we saw saturday. Went out this morn and saw a doe at 5am in the headlights on the edge of our land where my stand is but I never saw her after that. The nieghbors cows got out last night and I had to listen to the cattle drive all morn as they yelled at the cows..... Not what I wanted after waking up a 3 and driving an hour and a hald for a morning hunt. oh well its been a good season although no bucks to speak of..... yet

We hunted about 10 miles east of Fort Ripley and it was not as good as past years. I heard a lot less shooting this year also.

Opening morning I shot a nice doe and that was the only deer I saw out of the stand all weekend. The other 10 hunters in my party shot 3 button bucks and another big doe. No one saw any horns all weekend but there were lots of scrapes and rubs around.

I think it was because the full moon was visible both mornings and it warmed up too much during the day.

Very slow for us. We got 2 fawns and 2 bucks. Small 8 and a nice 9 pointer, those were the only antlers we saw. We pushed alot of woods and saw few deer in woods that we usually see 15-20. Must of had somthing to do with not alot of water around. I hunted Sat thur today and saw hardley any Mon-wed. On a brighter note the monster that i was bowhunting after was spotted this morning, so he only has 4 days left to live til i can get back after him.

There were a ton of people hunting in the wma's around where we hunt nad i think that was part of the problem. With shotguns we saw maybe 3-5 vehicles but this year there we 10 or so in the one and 6 or so in the other. The deer were kinda laying everywhere and not getting up unless you kicked them. It was really too nice to deer hunt but got to take it when it comes, i did sneak out to duck hunt yesterday though got 2 honkers and a couple ducks. Have to work tonight thur wed. so kinda out of luck til bowhunting again then muzzleloading. What we need is a foot of snow for muzzle season. I have been waiting for good snow as long as i have been muzzleloading, just never comes. Oh well how big was your buck that you shot. I good a nice 9 on Sat morning a a nice 8 with my bow thurs night. Good luck and get the predator rifle ready. I saw a couple the other night when looking for deer.

I got a 13 on sunday afternoon that was chasing a doe around. It was pretty good size, big enough for a mount. Im not a pro but i would say an upper 140 class buck. My buddy got a yote on opener, we have now harvested more yotes messing around rather than hunting them. Also got a spot up by mahnomen too to try this winter. Next weekend is being divoted to sighting in the muzzle and the .223.
