Was just discussing this morning with my wife my dilemma. Going pheasant hunting tomorrow, Sun morning I'd like to go bow hunting but I should get going early and claim a spot for pheasant hunting, will be pheasant hunting every night next week, then heading for SoDak on the 21st for five days of pheasant hunting, then taking some time off the first week in Nov to bow hunt during the rut - decisions, decisions!!!

Life is good!!! The best time of the year is here!!!

Wish the better half here was that understanding!!! Guess I can't complain though, T - 6 days until I leave for Colorado elk trip!

By the way, from what I've seen the last few days and heard from others, I wouldn't wait until November for rut activity. Seems to really be picking up already now!

When I was first going out with my wife, she said she couldn't believe that I'd just take off for weekends at a time, now 18 years later guess shes used to it and plans accordingly. Shes going shopping this weekend and heading to her Mom's next weekend.

You're right, deer are going to start heating up but pheasants come first, I maintain two labs and love to hunt pheasants, going to hit them hard. But I love deer hunting too so when the rut really heats up, and I get back from SoDak, I'll bowhunt morning and evening and hunt pheasants during the day. I'll probably lose 10 pounds in the next two weeks. Good thing I drink beer so I don't waste away!!!

My wife is VERY understanding about my hunting and fishing.After 31 years,she still never says its to much,but at times I slow up as I get to feeling it is.

When the Lil Mrs and I were dating I told her that she could tell me anything that she wanted to but "Don't ever tell me that I can not go hunting." To date she has never told me that! If fact she is giving my son and I an early Christmas present in a guided deer hunt in northern MN. I think that she still thinks that I am crazy to get up and leave at Oh-Dark-Thirty to hunt but hey... that's what I do. Take car and N Joy the Hunt././Jimbo

When I started dating my wife I told her she would not be seeing me that much in the fall. She asked if she could get a bow and hunt with me to see what all of the fuss was about. I thought no problem, she would only be a fair weather hunter I figured. Well long story short I cannot get her out of hunting camp, she takes 3 day weekends and 2 weeks off for the prime rut and is thinking of taking off more this year. I wish she would just go shopping once in a while.
