wyldewal
I finally got the pictures from this weekend put on the computer and had to share the story with you. I took my 12 year old son out this weekend for the youth deer hunt. With the wind on Saterday I didn't have much confidence but we tried it anyway. Mostly I wanted him to get a little experiencenin the woods. Well the day went about as good as I thought it would. We never even seen a deer. Sunday he decided to take the day off from duck hunting in the morning so he could sit in the deer stand in the evening. After I got back in the morning with the tale of all the ducks that were around he thought he made the wrong choice. Well he didn't. That evening we hiked out and climbed into the stand about 4:30. I told him the stand was set up more for bow hunting so when the deer came in they would be close. We sat there for about an hour and a half and hadn't seen anything. That's when I caught some movement in front of us at about 50 yards in the brush. I got his attention and he got ready for a shot. The little buck walked out at about 12 yards and stopped. He took aim and fired. The deer lifted its head and tried to figure out where the noise came from. He had shot right over the back of the deer. I think he was a little nervous. He kept his head enough to work the action and try another shot. He made this one count, just behind the front shoulder. We let the deer lay for a while and called a buddy to come give us a hand. I don't know who was happier my son or me. A perfect buck for his first deer. A little 6 pointer. I want to thank ourdoorran for the help. It wouldn't have been the same without at least one of the hunting gang out there. Thanks agian.
