Humble pie

To those that read this, no offense and I hope you follow the advice. Otherwise, save your typing and insults.

First off - nobody knows everything, myself included. But some people know more and I think that when people help others to become wiser (probably the main purpose of this OUTDOOR FISHING SITE) - it is a good thing.

My issue is that there seems to be a lot of people running around that think they know everything, yet they don't know how much they don't know. Quick to insult people they don't know. Easy to make judgements and comments about things that don't know jack about. Arguing about stuff all the time as if they had THE answer and nobody else knows anything.

I used to be like that. But I grew up. In a nutshell, I used to think I was the best at things... only to get waxed good. That taught me a lot, including something called humility. Being humbled by people that are better than you is tough to deal with, but it made me grow up and I have found my own success because of that.

Now I respect people that have learned to respect others for the talents they have. Instead of cutting somebody down, they applaud the achievements of others. They can also spot pretenders from a mile away.

So why post this? I just wish a lot of the people on this site would stop, sit back, and look how foolish we have taken things(MYSELF included)

Maybe it would help them grow up and stop acting like they are the ones that know it all. It would give them a sorely needed dose of humility.

CommanceJim you mentioned your son in one your posts. great post!!! and it sounds like you guys had a blast together regardless of the sox winning or losing. Your post made me smile, it really did.

But it also made me think about if I were to print some of these negative posts out, and show my son what would he say? Would I be proud of my actions?

Rundrave, I can see a little bit where you are going with this. Sometimes we act childish and such when our favorite teams lose. But I also think you have lost site of what a baseball forum is about.

To me it is about acknowledging good play of athletes and yes, bad play. They (me personally) are only opinions. It is about "playing" manager or coach. Talking about officals calls, ribbing Packer or Sox fans, just talking on a computer about your favorite sport.

Does this mean we know better or can coach or play better than the people we are talking about? I would say 95% of us would say no. A negative post can't be associated with knowing it all all the time.

My whole life is revolved around the game of baseball. The last 2 months probably the most exciting. Because I give an OPINION, does that make me childish?

Thanks Runny....

Like windy said in another post......we're like Eddie Haskle. It's fun to see you guys get so worked up. I don't attack anyone personally.......at least I don't remember or think I have. And if I have, that is never my intention.

I usually laugh my Arse off when I'm on this board. It keeps us young.

Well put CJim.

Some guys have shorter memories than others, but I have a feeling it is the guys that are still "young" that don't get it like most of us do.

The ol' Twainer comes in again:

"The trouble with youth is it is wasted on the young"!

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
