Ryan_V
It's time to change over to winter oil soon. I have an 01 Yamaha Big Bear 400. I've always used Yamalube oil in oil changes twice a year. Since I run 5w-30 in the winter, would it be o.k. to use regular oil instead of yamalube?? I don't know if there would be anything bad that might happen, or if oil is oil.....thanks for the advice!!!
knoppers
I have changed oil two times on my 02 grizz, it has 2400 miles on it. the book says 1500 mile per oil change. I did not know winter to summer uses different oil. I use my wheeler all year, never had any problems. it does start hard in winter, maybe I should be changing oil weights. Dave
Some owner manuals have a chart indicating what weight oil to use for certain temperature ranges. Doesn't matter the miles, I changed once a year.
jltimm
Get some 0-40 Amsoil ATV oil and you can run it year 'round. It's great oil and it's synthetic also, only negative is price, but you only need a couple quarts.
Black_Bay
I'm guessing your Big Bear has a manual transmission. The auto oils aren't really compatable with wet clutches that are used in 4 wheelers. They will work but they're not the best. Sooner or later you'll probably have cluch problems. It's just better to use oils made for atv/motorcycles.

jltimm
Fleet Farm, Napa, and some auto stores carry Amsoil.

loosegoose
I got my Amsoil at the local NAPA store. Bring the check book. $7.50 pre quart of oil and around $10 for the filter.
