DARK30
3 bucs a dozen? Oh well, I wanted sweet corn tonight and the sight of that corn piled up in the back of that pickup......well I had to stop. Being its so hot, I decided to do them on the grill outside with the burgers. I cut the tips off both ends and carefully removed a few outer husks. I let them stand in water for about 10 minutes. Then I wrapped three cobs together in tinfoil. I cooked them in the BBQ for a bout a half hour flipping the packs over once. Lots of real butter and way too much salt! MMmmmmmmmmmmmmm! Burgers weren't bad either.
Papa Grump
I hear ye clucking Dark! Picked up 2 dozen myself today from the girls down the street by Ann's cafe. Best corn I've had yet this year.
BLACKJACK
When I eat corn, I shuck the whole dozen and thats all we have is corn for supper. When I first met my wife she asked what else are we having, I said just corn. Now she fights me for the last ear....By the way, it was $5 a dozen here in Willmar. But it was O so good!! I plan on getting some more tomorrow for supper.
Gissert
My in laws have 8 rows of corn , about 200 yards long each. My wife picked about 20 grocery bags last weeekend, gave a bunch to friends and froze a bunch more. Come deer season, nothing better than some corn on the cob with fresh venison chops.I hope there is still some good fresh stuff left, as I had to work last weekend. I'll have to go see this afternoon if the coons have left me a few for the bbq.
Hotspotter
I've been shucking them whole and spraying some olive oil on them......then putting directly on the grill. Roll them around to get the kernels a bit brown and they're done. Easy and good. Slather with butter, top with salt, and you're ready to eat. $5/doz is ridiculous for food we barely digest Joel
doubleUcubed
Hey Dark, it started at 4 bucks a dozen here in the "Corn Capital" (Olivia). Now the commercial fields are being picked and the prices have dropped a bunch. Heck, I could pick semi after semi load of sweet corn within a mile of your old man's place right now!! Hey, the Catfish Tourney has been changed to Sat. August 19th on Big Kandiyohi this year. I don't know how the fishing will be as I've only been out once this year! Fun Day's is in Lake Lillian this weekend, you gonna be around for it? I'll be town working the food stands most of this Sat.

Ihateriversnags
I take the whole ear of corn and soak a few of them in hot water and pour a bunch of salt over them while in the water making a brine solution per se. When the water is cold then it's time to put them on the grill. Just take the strings off and place on the grill turning when the down side turns brown. Once the whole husk is brown they are done. nitefisher
best darn way you can eat it, except with some meat and potatoes on the grill with it.

Dotch
Mmmmm Mmmmm Good! What time is dinner? Eating on the fly as we often do, the microwave does a very adequate job. 7 minutes does 3 large husked ears nicely. Our Memorial Day planted patch isn't ready yet; the "Bodacious" is still about a couple weeks away and the "Incredible" a week after that. The neighbor's early planted "Incredible" patch is still producing tho. More than happy to give him $3 a dozen at this point. Canning Co. corn is OK too but it helps sometimes to know what you're getting. The commercial "Lancaster" we ate last year was...well, have eaten zucchini that was more flavorful. The supersweet version of "Jubilee" tho was some of the best corn I've ever eaten so I got a small amount from a grower for my own patch. Will only take sweet corn out of a farmer's field if it is offered. Something about growing your own that makes it taste just a little better I guess. Also makes me grin when I hear the raccoons chatter after hitting the electric fence! Enjoy the season while it lasts and stay regular!
