Garza being offered?

Some guy on ESPN is saying the Twins are talking about giving up Garza to acquire Soriano. I sure hope not. Soriano would be with us the remainder of the season and that is it. Is it worth to trade one of the top pitching prospects in the league for a rent-a-player? Don't get me wrong, Soriano's stats are unbelievable, I am just thinking long term here.

Just another angle... what if Garza is another Lohse or any other minor leaguer for that matter that busted at the majors level?? Who's to say he's the next big thing and have it be a guarantee!? All I know is that Soriano is a PROVEN big league hitter and if we can sign him to an extended contract vs a rent a player I'd have to think hard about doing this trade.

Small market team like the Twins depends on growth from within. Pitchers always have and always will be in great demand. To trade Garza away for a hitter for two months makes no sense for the Twins when they are looking at long range benefits from a future stating pitcher for many years. I will be surprised if Garza comes up this year but he may make start or two. For years the Twins farm system has been at the top in producing and grooming ball players. The core of the World Series teams were home grown. Just like a tomato from the garden home grown is o so much sweeter..

thats exactly what I am saying for the wild card. The Twins had opportunities to help the club out the rest of the year but did sqwat, the other teams were the winners yesterday. They could of got help in the depleted outfield we have right now, they could of used another infielder and maybe another starting pitcher like Maddox. As I see it the Twins will call up Garza in the next week.

Not to pick on you MnWild, but Terry Ryan was quoted in todays Star Tribune as saying "until Garza mixes in more change ups and curves he won't be called up" he apparently threw almost all fastballs in his last AAA game and they want him to mix it up alot more. With that being said, I also believe he will be up, just not for a little while longer. wink.gif

What infielder would you have wanted, and who would you have sent to the bench to open a spot? Punto and Bartlett are hitting well over .300, Castillo is your only lead off option and Mourneau well lets not discuss what he has been doing. Which one would you want out of the line up?

And Maddux... he is 3-7 in his last 10 games, with an era around 5. And he's at the end of his career, who would you be willing to give up to get that kind of production? Right now Silva is pitching better as he is 7-3 in his last 10 starts.

I think the twins are fine with who they have. They have been rolling lately with the players they have so I say let them play.

Sometimes the best trade is the one never made. i would have liked to see a big right handed stick, but failing that, I think they should have (and they did) hold it pretty close to the vest. Hunter just came back, so now LF is the only position that is in any kind of limbo. Well, DH too I guess. But no lineup is perfect, so away we go. I like their chances for the WC. I predict Garza will get a couple more starts and he will get called up. Unless, UNLESS, Baker KEEPS him down there with solid starts. How is that for looking at it through Twins-colored glasses?

I guess I have not figured out which Minnesota Twins you have been watching. The last two months have been the best baseball I have seen in a long time. They are playing awesome ball with the players they have. An infielder hmmm who would you sit??? almost all of them are hitting over 300 at first the guy has hit over 400 the last month. Outfield they are awesome too. Bonus Hunter is back with quite the proformance last night no doubt. (Should have been called out on strikes in my opinion though but the breaks have to go for the Twins sometimes. Touch them all Torii Hunter. Got to love it. As for pitching ya I will agree, but maybe give Garza a try. Tonight would be perfect. Baker can afford to miss another start. Had to giggle last night with Lee's blunders in the outfield but still had a good sence of humor when he finally caught one and the croud gave him a standing ovation. GO TWINKIES!!!!!!!!

where in that post did I say to sit a starter?? Nowhere.

All I said is they could of used help in certain area's. You have a few players on the bench, Tiffe, Rodriguez and in the pen Eyre you could of replaced with other players through trades. Would of been nice to have a back-up for Morneau which could of been Sean Casey, give Morneau a day off here and there or at DH. X.Nady would look good playing out in LF, Craig Wilson is a good IN/OF player a 3rd baseman. You have White hobbling with a bad hammy, Kubal has been hurting a tad, and Rabe has had some error's in the OF. They could of made some upgrades.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
