Trade

I think you're right, the only trade Ryan will make will be to dump Lohse for a prospect, especially since Silva had a respectable outing last night. Ryan will NOT trade a bunch of prospects for a player that will only be here a couple of months, he doesn't have the deep pockets to go on the free agent market so he has to save and protect his prospects. I think his hands were also tied when both Hunter and Stewart got hurt, one of both of them might have been traded, but not now, nobody will trade for an injured player.

Look at the bright side we will get Hunter and his Gold Glove back in a few days, you can't make a much better trade for a player than that. Though I would like to see a pitcher added. The one player that would be a possiblity would be Maddox from the Chicago Cubs, not much left in the tank but he'd come cheap and maybe with a change of scenery he'd have a few more good starts left. But if hes available, other clubs would bid up the price....

One other possiblity is a trade for a third string catcher, I don't know of any likely names, but Gardy would like to have one, and if you could find one that could maybe also pinch hit, I could see that happening. Plus a third stringer would be cheap.

Final analysis is that any deal will be minor. But I can't fault Terry Ryan, hes done a great job on a budget.

Here is a list of potental people that could and/or will be traded...Found on ESPN.com

Pitchers: Jeff Weaver, Rodrigo Lopez, Bruce Chen, John Thomson, Jason Johnson, Kyle Lohse, Victor Santos, Kip Wells, Oliver Perez, Odalis Perez, Glendon Rusch, Ramon Ortiz, Jeremy Affeldt, Elmer Dessens, Roberto Hernandez, Salomon Torres, Damaso Marte, Chris Reitsma, Rudy Seanez, Joe Borowski.

Hitters: Craig Wilson, Jose Guillen, Juan Pierre, Julio Lugo, Aubrey Huff, Shannon Stewart, Rondell White, Mark Grudzielanek, Reggie Sanders, Tony Graffanino, Matt Stairs, Jay Payton, Bobby Kielty, David Dellucci, Jeff Conine, Kevin Millar, Jeromy Burnitz.

Now given ryans inability to land a few guys for the better of the team, look for us to land a mid-level player with no real proven success. Just my 3 cents... wink.gif

The only 2 on this list worth having are already on the Twins payroll....Ro White and Shannon Steward....They will both make good back-ups in the playoffs.

Remember, Matt Guerrier is coming back...nr 5 starter in a pinch now that we have Nechek and Crain for long relief.

Heard today they might be trading Glen Perkins and another top pitching prospect to the Brewers for Lee. They said that Perkins has a little bit of a temper problem they don't want to deal with. Have to wait and see if it is yet another rumor or the real deal.

I wouldn't be too excited. It would be great for the short term, but if we can't turn around and sign Lee to an extension, we are getting ripped off. He is a free agent after this season.

After Garza, Slowey is our highest rated prospect. Perkins was supposed to be doing better than he has, but the kid is lefthanded and has a good arm. I really don't want to give Slowey up. He figures into the rotation within the next couple of years. 1.Johan, 2.Garza, 3.Liriano, 4.Slowey, 5.(Baker, Bonser, Silva?????). Most baseball guys would say that the Twins pitching staff over the next couple years could be one of the best ever assembled.

I highly doubt you'd see TR trade both of these guys. One of them I could see, but not both.

I guess if we could get Lee and he is the piece that will take us to a WS title, I could live with giving up 2 promising guys. Just remember though, El Caballo is probably a rent-a-bat for a team like the Twins that isn't probably going to offer a 5-year, 60 million $ contract.

I do drool about the idea of Mauer, Lee, Morneau, Cuddyer batting 3-6 though. That is a murderers row for any pitcher to face and hard to match up against. L-R-L-R.

The Milwaukee Brewers are trading slugger Carlos Lee to the Texas Rangers as part of a multi-player deal, ESPN.com learned Friday.

The Brewers are sending Lee, minor-league outfield prospect Nelson Cruz and a player to be named later to the Rangers for relief pitcher Francisco Cordero and outfielders Kevin Mench and Laynce Nix.

Both teams are checking for any medical issues before consummating the deal.

Well, we can forget about getting Lee.

ESPN just reported that the Milwaukee Brewers are trading slugger Carlos Lee to the Texas Rangers as part of a multi-player deal.

The Brewers are sending Lee, minor-league outfield prospect Nelson Cruz and a player to be named later to the Rangers for relief pitcher Francisco Cordero and outfielders Kevin Mench and Laynce Nix.

DAM! The friggin Rangers are the dumbest team in the league. They need pitching and they have for years, and then they go out and sign another slugger. Good Luck!?!?!?

Texas will never have pitching -- they are not smart enough to get pitching -- plus who the heck wants to pitch in that launching pad.

Mench would have been great on this club -- I would still try to get him.

Any other rumors, fellas?

I've found that the rumors you hear rarely come true really.

Most reports have us and Detroit the frontrunners for Soriano, but I don't know how much I believe that.

Honestly, we are in a great position to deal if we want to. The offer that Texas gave to get Lee is pale in comparison to what was rumored (Slowey, Perkins), from the Twins. That just shows you that the rumor was probably just that... a rumor.

I did hear that they were looking to either Liddle or Lieber over in Philly. What we would give up to get them, I don't know.

I'd like to send Lohse and Ford packing, but I don't think they would fetch much more than some prospects. Either way, I think you dump guys like that and stockpile some more players for the future. This team should be good for a few years now.
