Plastics

I have bag after bag of plastic baits. My question is can I remove them from their zip lock bags and keep them in my plano boxes? Or will something bad happen to them. Most of my plastics are from MR. Twister, Exude ones. I have a couple of the Gulps and I know those would dry out and leave a mess out of the bag. But generally the plastics that are salted or have sents imbedded, will they be fine out of the bags? Even after the winter months for using the next season?

(I posted this in the Equip Forum too, just noticed the topic in here)...

I keep all of my Exude and MisterTwister plastics in those clear plano boxes. It's much easier than carrying around a pile of bags and trying to find each one when you need it. I haven't had any problems with the Exude plastics as far as storing them in plastic containers. Everything is much more organized and easier to see what you're looking for.

I haven't tried storing the Gulp products in plastic containers though, so I don't have any advice on that one...

Do not put gulp in anything but the plastic they come in or they will be toast...

As for Exude.. put it anywhere you want but in water... I have had Exude in a plastic tackle box for 5 years now and its still as good as the day I got it.

I always keep plastic baits, especially the Gulp, Exude, Senko's etc. in their original packaging bags. I dedicate a whole section of my tackle box to just plastic baits so they don't mix in with other lures.

Why? For reason below:

1. Stay fresh longer, no loss of scent or form. By keeping them in the bags the plastics dont air out and lose it's scent appeal.

2. Less chance of melting or drying up due to weathered condition. I have seen plastics melt in the tackle box. I have noticed where I could be fishing in the rain and a little water gets into the tackle box and on the lures and dries up later. This Causes the plastics to bond to each other.

I'm with Matt on this one--I keep 12 of those large Plano boxes full of plastics in the storage compartment of my boat. For surplus bags, I keep about 50 bags in a seperate bag in another compartment. When I run out of a color I just grab another bag and dump it in the box.

i store my plastics in plano's also but!! i place the plastics in a zip lock snack bags first to keep every thing seperate. these bags fold/roll up so much easier, and take less space .

I store BULK amounts in large ziplocks with the air squeezed out.. and then take just what I need for the day into my plano boxes. I can fit like 20 packs on Comida's in one zip lock bag! And perhaps take 10 for the day out.

For my plastics I went to Thorn Brothers and bought the "Monster" worm bag. It holds everything in its orginal pack and has storage for hooks and other stuff.

I highly recommend this option.

Tubes, Senkos, works, etc. etc. Oh My !!!!!

fishinforlife, The one I got was the biggest one they make. It is called the Shimano Monster worm bag. They just introduced it this year. There are some others that are a bit smaller. It has 6 or 7 huge plastic inserts and you can buy extra's of which I of course did. I believe the dimensions are 14"x 8.5"x 4" I believe the cost was 39.99

I have all of my plastics organized along with hooks and weights in the pouch pockets inside. I had to do some searching but this was perfect for my needs.

I have a much smaller one that has all of my pan fish plastics and jigs. Then I of course have my monster tackle box which has lead to pre-mature back problems smile.gif

I hear ya, I just recenlty got a tackle bag (more like a rolling duffel!). I thought it would have MORE than enough space for all my stuff. Yup filled er up on the first shot. Ran out of room already. Both side pockets and all 6 - 7 3700 series plano boxes. Jease. Pretty soon I will need a bigger boat just to hold all the tackle! it is really pushing it with two guys any just my gear now as it is. haha

Then of course there are the 20 plus pre-rigged poles to trip on smile.gif

I panic when I fish out of another guys boat and have to downsize and consolodate.

That being said I still really have my 10 or fewer go to presentations.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
