I'm thinking the fan vote will disappear in the years to come. Sure it's cool that the fans can vote, but voting more than one time corrupts the whole thing.

I'm also thinking that the fan vote will go away soon as it's more of a popularity contest and not a vote based on a particular players game so far this season.

But what do I know.

Lets look at how many WSox deserved to be in:

Thome: Nope, he is only half a player and they dont have a DH. IF he actually played 1B, then yes, but he doesnt so he shouldnt be going there. Niether should Ortiz. It is just not fair to others who actually play the entire game. IF there was a DH slot, then for sure, put them on the team there, but to exclude a real 1Bman is a sin.

Konerko: Mebbe, Morneau and Giambi have just as good of stats.

Buehrle: No way, his stats suck compared to Schilling, Liriano and others. A 3.86 ERA? c'mon. More hits than IP, less than a 2:1 K to BB ratio.

Contreras: Yep.

Dye: Yep.

Jenks: Mebbe. His ERA is a little high. Save total is nice.

AJ: No. Are you kidding me? what a joke. Look at his stats compared to Hafner's. Compare him with Liriano. he sucks defensively. Guillen will prolly play Pudge for 4 innings, give an inning to Mauer and play AJ for the final 4. A complete injustice to both Hafner and Liriano.

So without Guillen playing Homerism, the Sox end up with 3 (splitting the "mebbes").

Maybe the Twins should trade Bonser and Nathan we can even throw in a guy named Liriano for A.J. Pierzynski. Just so we can have another all star.

I'd rather have a team of unknown players winning games than a team with a couple of all stars losing games.

I agree with the voting system needs to be changed. Let the players, managers and sports writers vote, they can at least be semi-unbiased.

Also what a joke 7 White Sux's when there is other players out there that are way more deserving, Liriano and Hafner for starters.

Yet another way Selig has screwed up the game for everyone.

In reply to your comment, I would have to mention the fact that Ozzie is the biggest White Sox fan!!! So I guess it only takes one White Sox fan to get 7 guys in, as long as you have last year's World Series ring on your finger. Remember the Golden Rule, The Man with the Gold...Makes the Rule! Actually, Ozzie only chose 3 of the Sox players, the other 4 were selected by players and MLB. Anyway, who cares, we have the bling and it's our turn to sing. Have the Twinks win the big dance this year and then they can stuff the team with their guys. It's not our world, we just live in it. I don't like the rules but it's not my call. I think that it is stupid to put the home field advantage as a carrot in this otherwise meaningless game anyway.

Using your logic, I guess Yo-Han does not deserve to go to the All Star game because he doesn't bat??? Thome is in the American League and the American League has a DH, Thome has played in the field this year and he still can if Konerko gets hurt or needs a rest but they don't make the rules, they just play by them. Of course, Thome deserves to go with his hitting power and the way he has rebounded from last years injuries he definitely has a spot on my All Star team. Windy

How do you like this theory? Ozzie knows his Sux won't get in the W.S. this year, so what better way to "stick it to " the WINNERS in the AL than to field a second rate team in the all star game . This way he looks good to his guys, and sticks it to the better teams in the AL. We will see how he mannages the game.....

I do believe it was a better idea to take another hitter than another pitcher, even though there were obvious better choices than who won.

Barrett is, without a doubt, a Democrat. Since he acts like a "donkey" on the field, I figure he is a bleeding heart liberal so he would be the Democratic nominee.
