jltimm
I have a 1999 Lund Pro V 1660 with a Yamaha 50 hp 4 stroke motor, and I was wondering what I should know about getting a spare prop for it? The size that's on it is 10 5/8 12 G if that makes sense?
0 VMS
That would be the diameter and pitch in that respective order for the prop on the boat. That would be all you need to cross reference for a michigan prop, or a stock yamaha prop. Then....go get a good deal on hsolist. Steve
0 marine_man
I'm not 100% certain that it's a 12 pitch prop.. the 10 5/8 is likely the diameter.. but a 12 pitch prop for you rig seems mighty flat... 11 pitch is a pretty typical pontoon prop, so 12 seems pretty flat...I'd get all the numbers off it and talk to a dealer... have you removed the prop to see if there are any stampings inside the hub?The other question is are you satisfied with your current boat performance? marine_man
0 upnorth
50 horse on a pro v would need a pretty flat prop.
0 Valv
I agree with Marine_man, 12pitch seems too flat, even for a 50hp.We might be wrong but are you sure it says 12g and not something else ?
0 jltimm
I took the prop off to get those #'s.They were on the inside of the hub.The boat goes about 32mph with just me in it.I do not know if this is normal for a boat of it's size and motor?I bought the boat used and it seems professionally setup, so I'm wondering if the dealer that it was originally purchased from took the size and weight of boat into consideration when it outfitted the boat with this motor? 0 upnorth
I would guess that it is a 17 pitch. Maybe bring it to dealer and ask him what it is.
0 marine_man
I'd guess closer to a 15...I'd call a dealer and see if there's a cross refernce from some brand of prop, perhaps Michigan Wheel, that would give you the pitch based on the numbers you have off the prop. What RPM are you turning at full throttle, trimmed out?marine_man
0 jltimm
I wanna say I'm running 5500-5800 rpm trimmed to my max top end.
0 Borch
I don't know....I'm running a 10 x 13p on my 60 merc on my 16 ft Lund Predator. I've run the 12 before an it's fine even at full trottle. A 14 or 15 just doesn't perform well on my rig. I get 1.6 mph forward trolling and 30+ at full throttle. Each rig is different.
0 walleyehawk
I have a 16 foot Pro Angler with a 12 pitch prop. 4 stroke Merc 60. I had the 13 pitch on and it chugged and I could not get on plane, so the 12 pitch sounds right. I think with the 4 stroke, you have to go a little lower on the pitch. 0 marine_man
It could very well be a 12 pitch prop.. it sounds like your RPM's are good.. I'd still call a dealer and give him the numbers you got off your prop to make sure it is 12 pitch... that way you'll be sure.marine_man
