Plug for trailer lights

Scoot

Question

I need what is apparently a unique plug for my trailer. The one I'm looking for (and can't seem to find) is the end that goes on my trailer (not the pickup end). On the plug in, it's got three posts and a female fitting so it's got four pieces that fit into the other end. However, it's got five wires total- four hots and a ground.

Anyone know where I can get this plug? All I need is the trailer end of the plug.

What it sounds like is you have a 4 flat. If I rember right there should be 2 brown wires coming off of it. The 2 browns are the same wire, one goes down each side of the trailer. If you buy a new plug just match up the wires color for color, all of each color hook together. Most inportant hook up the ground (white) wire at the truck and trailer.

Wiring should be 2 brown, 1 green, 1 yellow, and 1 white. Brown is for tail lights. Green, if I remember correctly is left turn, yellow is right turn (could be the other way around), and white should be the ground.

Guys, I forgot to check the color of the wires last night, but I'm colorblind anyway so it wouldn't have been very reliable info anyway.

Here's the deal- every plug I see in stores has four wires, not five. The few plugs I find that have five wires have an extra post and won't fit my connection on the pickup. So, I still don't think I've got an answer. Unless I can take two of the brown wires and attach both of them to the single brown wire on a four wire connector???

Cool- thanks guys!!!
As you can see by my last couple questions on this forum, I'd rather be fishing than working on my boat. I've got the mechanical mind of a clam. But I guess that's part of what makes this site great- you get to make great use of tons of people's strengths and knowledge areas. Now, if I could just figure out what my strengths and knowledge areas are... grin.gif
Thanks fellas!
