New Bass Resolution

Deitz Dittrich

Recommended Posts

This post is kinda about a new years resolution. With bass opener just around the corner(which is way better than new years anyway)..

My new bass resoution is to fish jig worms more this year. I feel I got away from it last year and would like to get back to it.

I also resolute to keep better track in a journal how I do each trip out. By the end of the season I would like to be able to tell you how many bass I caught this year.

I resolve to be able to figure out how to pattern and consistantly catch river smallies. The St. Croix in particular. So close to home and with gas prices it is a good option. Can always find the small ones, but a solid big fish pattern has eluded me.

Deitz I was so excited when I saw that header New Bass Resolution and your name behind it. I knew this would be good for a couple of " one liners" and a cheap shot. But alas, you got some what serious on me. Ok... I can play. My resolution is to get you up here and show you some excellant smallie fishing. And as the Water Boy would say " Open a can of whoop-#@% on you grin.gif Oh ya, and since I'm old and retired, living on a fixed pension, let you buy me lunch. smirk.gif

Like Deitz, I plan on fishing more jig worms this year. Also, leave the heavy gear behind and fish more finesse tactics. I bought a really nice finesse spinning combo along with some Spot Remover jigs that Im dying to try out. And since Im finesse fishing, I plan on using that thing that reels have.....whats it called? Oh yeah, drag. smile.gif

My Bass Resolution is to track all my efforts this summer in my Bassin' Blog. If you would like to read along, Google Rich's Bassin' Blog and bookmark it. I would give you a link, but that is taboo......

My resolution is to slow down and not be in such a hurry.

I want to keep a log to. That's something I've wanted to do for years. I'm going to buy a clicker and keep count of all the fish I catch this year.

See you on the water!! cool.gif

my resolution as always is to catch the 5 pound 22+" river toad (St Croix river of course), and also get BLB on a 20"er. I also want to keep a log, but I hate paperwork, and am generally lazy as all heck..... so I doubt its gonna happen grin.gif

I have a log of EVERY SINGLE outing in the woods and on the water since 1993. Lazy? It sure is some good reading and has a great amount of info. Do it, you will be happy.

And RR, I would say to kiss my butt, but thats against FM policy.... grin.gif

Oh yeah. My 2006 resolution is to break my opening weekend bass record for total fish caught. Period!

Ole, we use a dry erase board with a fabric marker. (I dont know what to call the writing utensil. Its waterproof though). We make a mark on the board for every single bass caught(size doesnt matter), and tally at days end(or the outing) and clear it off. We also make notes for other fish caught or keep tally of all fish over 18 inches so we know who is the true master.

The logs help to know what those numbers are that need to be broken. cool.gif

Ole, I'm with you. I fish to fast most of the time. I would hazard to guess that the majority of us fish to fast, and pass up some good fish by moving by the school instead of sitting on them. I keep telling myself to slow down, but even when I think I've slowed down my tournament partner Mike Daloia keeps asking me which race I'm in frown.gif

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
