My H2O was NOT waterproof

GoodToGo

Question

My H2O got wet a couple of weeks ago, it was submerged for a few minutes in a few inches of water. There was water in the screen afterwards, so I let it dry for week, then turned it on. Nothing. After my email to Lowrance was not answered I called Lowrance to find out that since it was 8 months out of warranty I was S.O.L. I was welcome to send it in and have it repaired for $100. They were not concerned that it was not WATERPROOF as advertised (1 meter for 30 minutes is the IPX7 standard). I am very disappointed in my unit and in Lowrance. So, keep that H2Ohno dry!

My experience shows that this is one company that has no gray areas when it comes to the length of warranties.

My H20 will be used on the ice only. Way too small a screen to use in a bobbing boat. 7" screen on my boat GPS!

I let it ride on my 4-wheeler all year except in the summer when it gets put in the boat.I probably should be more carefull.I have had no problem to date.I hope I dont ever have to find out if its waterproof.

If it were mine I'd have the batteries removed immediately.

After hearing it wasn't under warranty, I'd take further steps to dry it out by opening it up. Supposedly being water proof means what water did get in there isn't going to get out. I haven't messed with mine but I suspect if you lift back the rubber around the center there might be a clue as to how to open it. If you break something your not going to be out to much since it isn't working anyway.

I've seen 2 out of 3 cells phones saved by putting them in a 100 degree Fahrenheit oven at least overnight if not 1 1/2 days. It's worth a try. I agree with a previous post that since it is supposed to be waterproof it might be hard to get the moisture out.
