Does the color of your boat influence the fish? (Painting project)

Slyster

Question

Another "boat project" post.. I am going to paint my Lund C-14 tomorrow.. the Lund red color has worn off and it looks horrible... so should I paint it bck to original rust red? Or a darker natural color?

I have heard the fish can see above the water. Can boat color make a difference?

The negative aspect for me for me is boat traffic.. I'd love to paint it green or dark blue or something.. but would red be safer on busy metro lakes?

Camo vs. safety?

i don't think the sides of a boat are that critical when fishing.( otherwise, us guys with those very sparkley rangers would be S.O.L. ! blush.gif) i remember seeing/reading an article about the bottom of a boat, as it should be a light color to help blend in with the sky/light surface that the fish may see.but ! the boat still casts a shadow, so ? confused.gif the safety factor of being seen by other boats ??? i'll leave that to the other guys. grin.gif

Now wait a minute. Wasn't it you that was going to paint the underside of your fish house that way? I'm sure there has to be some sort of law against that! Hmm, maybe that's what the guys in the Brazilian flying fish video had done. The fish were really jumping at the bottom of the boat grin.gif

I would say that light is best.
