Answer : The "official's" for tonight's and last nights games!! Boys and girls, quit saving for your children's educations right now and start getting them into zebra shirts! Holy dump, these goodfellows (aka refs, linesmen, etc) must be getting one heck of a nice paycheck from the mob to be calling these games!!!! Holy dump - First the quote un-quote "call" on Atherton last night and now tonight when HC was finally getting just a little momentum and shazaaammmmm! The fifth goal by UND is good - With a Sioux player totally in the crease with nobody pushing him in there??? WOW!!!! Ralph E. is alive and well................

You missed the point quack...Hockey players (and non-bandwagon fans...) care - Zebra's are part of the game and when they blow calls, momentum and outcome's change....

I am truly sad to say, but for the first time in my life, I will be cheering for an East Coast (and non-WCHA) team - Go BC!!! But heck, wasn't all in attendance at Friday nights game doing the same thing????

Feetdown, there are things you can't control in a hockey game and then there are things you can make excuses about. You aren't the only gopher fan who blames the referee's for poor play on the ice. Both teams deal with referees.

My hats off to a Holy Cross team that didn't have a prayer but came close to a miricle.

Doug Woogs' wisdom didn't show much when he said that Holy Cross didn't deserve to be in the West regional. They played their guts out and and showed tremendous heart and that is more than I can say for some other team(s). Holy Cross deserved to be there.

I'm sure if the tables were turned and ND was playing HC at the Excel with the winner playing the gophers, all those classy gopher fans would be cheering real hard for their WCHA rivals.

And as far as the calls, I would have liked to see a replay of the, quote, call after the HC goal. The ND player did go down away from the play but it was hard to see what really happened. And the guy in the crease. I don't know the rule in college but he did not interfere with the goalie at all and they reviewed it and called it good.

ND did dominate the game, but HC hung in there into the 3rd and my hats off to them too.

I wasn't even going top bring this up, but if anybody TIVO'd the game you'll have to check it out... the Gophers get called three times for being in the crease and the face off goes outside the zone, thats cool, thats the rule.... the Game goes into OT and they score the winning goal WITH a man in the crease... hey guess what, no call! Nice consistancy refs! confused.gif I wouldn't have mattered anyway as the Gophers would have lost the next night, but I was disappointed at the momemt!

I am a gopher fan and WCHA fan, I was hoping to see a Sioux/Gopher match up in the finals. After looking at the replay it was hard to tell if the player was in the crease in the OT goal for Holy Cross. It looked like the player was out of the crease before the puck went in the net. If the player was in the crease why didnt Lucia try to review the play, nor Gophers players didnt do anything about it. Well the Gophers didnt put the puck in the net or played good hockey so better luck next year.

That's why you can't let the refrees take away your momentum (if any of you do, thats sad.) kill off the penalty with the same momentum and put alot pressure on the opponent team and then do the same when they are back on even strength.

I was at the games on Friday and Saturday...I've never seen so many tripping calls where no one actually got tripped.

The 'in the crease' penalties were pretty weak all around, but evidently that is the way the game is called out east, where the refs were from. All the interference/obstruction penalties, as well. It was like they went out and found some basketball refs that could skate...

I don't think the calls were biased...just bad. They were consistent...though they were consistently bad. The Gophers came out flat, probably looking ahead. Holy Cross played a very strong, very disciplined game. Their positioning was very disciplined...they were always in the correct position to block a shot, break up a pass, or mess up a play just enough to take the timing away from the Gophers.

HC played a very good game. But...the Gophers had the talent to beat them...if it was a best of seven series, there is little question the Gophers would win. But...it is a single-elimination playoff, and the Gophers came out flat - and Holy Cross seemed to be more focused and disciplined.

As for who to cheer for...I was cheering for the Gophers, and the for the Sioux on Friday night. I wanted to see a Gopher/Sioux matchup on Saturday...and I would have gladly worn my Gopher jersey to that game.

When the Gophers lost, I cheered for the Sioux...even wearing my Sioux jersey to the game on Saturday. I'm a WCHA fan first...Gopher fan second.
