Pedestal seats

So I need to get a new pedestal setup in the front of my boat; and I'm thinkin about getting a Control Post pedestal/seat combo. They are a bit different from the standard bike seat pedestal, in that they can be adjusted to 90 degrees vertical. I would imagine that these offer superior comfort and support, and I'm wondering if it's worth the extra change. Has anyone used one of these, or know someone who has one? Is it worth the $150?

Here's what they look like--

On the Water: I guide full time during the soft-water season. I'm on the water 6 out of 7 days per week. I also fish more tournaments (bass) than a married man has a right to smirk.gif A also had to retire from police work because of a neck/back injury. Two seasons ago I replaced my bump seat with the control post and put in a recessed trolling motor foot control box. The control post is great, I can not say enough nice things about it... between the post and recessed trolling motor foot control NO MORE LEG CRAMPS OR SORE BACK!!!

Dietz, go ahead and do it. You will not believe the differance it makes after an 8 hour day of fishing. I had good help, but it was a little scary. I will not own a boat without one after doing this. On another note, of to LOW for a little fishing on Friday.

Agape, don't you find it bothersome not being able to move the pedal to different sides of the boat? I like the idea of a recessed pedal but I move my pedal around all the time and I think it would kinda suck having it stuck in the center.

I've seen the recessed pedal kits and often thought about doing it myself. I'd hate to put that big of a hole in the deck and not have it work. In regards to moving the foot pedal around, a lot of guys (me included) already screw the pedal down on the deck. I did it for safety reasons. Sometimes at higher speeds the pedal has a tendency to "levitate" -especially in rough water. I'm pretty sure that thing would hurt if it came apart and hit me in the head! shocked.gif I took a landing net off the forehead once after it bounced off of my front pedestal.

Blakjack: I don't have the pedal screwed down, it sits in the recess. I move it all the time, from one side to the other, mainly when I'm fishing docks.

Deitz: I would love to go up on March 11th, but I'm working the Rogers Cabelas for Cabelas days on the 11th and 12th then on the 18th and 19th. Have a great time up there.
