strike sensor

Ok i was thinking of purchasing the strike sensor for my tip ups. It is the one with the electronic units that attach to your tip ups, and transmit a single to a pager that you wear. When the unit is tripped the pager that you wear beeps. If any one has these units could you tell me how you like them. Or if you think that they are not worth the price. Any feedback you could give me would be great.

Thanks Ron

I use Strike Sensors on my tip ups and they work great. It is nice not to have to keep trying to see out of an iced over portable plastic window to see if the flag is up. I put a small piece of velcro on my tipup and velcro down the sensor. I hook the clip on the flag and when it pops the sensor pager goes off - it is really slick. I can concentrate on my electronics in the portable and not worry about keeping an eye on the tipup. Mine are several years old and they do not have as much range as the new ones. I have several sensors and have them coded to go off on a single pager that way if someone is with me I can rig them up a tipup too.

The strike sensors work great for bank fishing in the summer too. They work great for catfishing at night - they sell an accessory that can be easily rigged to a bank rod holder that mounts your strike sensor for easy use. On the St Croix you can fish two rods and I rig them up with strike sensors, turn on the Twins game and chill out waiting for the pager to go off - it's great.

I agree with the others as the sensors I bought are great.I wont tip-up fish without them. One thing also, put good batteries in them as I used some cheapers ones in them and had to send transmitter back in because I thought it didnt work right. They sent it back and said it worked just fine, just use better grade batteries.Tried to use some cheaper sale batteries.

best thing ever for your tipups - i gave up on the velco and just use a little bit longer lead line. just be carefull not to kick it in the hole when running up. i even use mine in the daytime so there is no guessing how long that big old pike has had your bait.

I use zip ties to attach mine to the tipup base. I tie the little "key" thing to the flag with 20lb mono instead of that little clip. I've had them fly off into never never land before when a flag went up. I really like them.
