Rope Lights

I just put a set in my portable last week. I used them once and they seem to work OK. A guy could really use two strings. I repositioned them a bit last night so the lights were pointed more downward. I run them off an old 12V-7amp battery that wasn't quite cutting it anymore in my flasher.

I got 2 pairs and I have 1 that is hanging in my room now. Its beeen on since 1 am and still going. Mine were on sale for $7.99 so I bought like 6 of them to use as gifts. Way better than paying the big bucks for clams string of lights.

Clam makes a version for $15, I think. Last year there were problems with about half of the string burning out, not sure if that was fixed this year. Gander's version is new this year. They will likely be tough to find in the near future. If you see them now, buy them.

They are white LEDS lights. I bought 2 and strapped them to my center pole in my voyager. Seems like it should work very well and the price is right. Also, the cords screw off so you can store the alligator clips and cord out of the way when you set up/take down.

I did go buy 2 sets at the local gander, come home installed. One worked like a charm, 2 set had 4 lights out in the middle for some reason and the glow was really low on the rest. I took back for and exchange. Brought them home, frown.gif hooked them up, i could not get a single light to work. Really getting frustrated now, check all the ends, Looked ok, took back for exchange again, I told them I will not leave the store until I know they are all working. Installed on Voyager across the poles in the center and along the door pole. Wow, I am really surprised how much light it gives out. Little girl came out, opened the door and said Holy Cow, its bright grin.gif So I am hoping they will keep working for the seasons ahead. I figure I will use my Headlamp when I am tearing down camp to see that everything is put away.

Saw the lights up in Brainerd last week and bought two sets for two guys I fish with. Both sets worked great, are bright enough for their otter lodges and as a test one of the guys has had his hitched up and running for 60 hours on the same vex battery, still running at last check

I actually had the same problem with the sets I bought. One worked well the other had about 5-6 lights that didn't work and was just a lot dimmer ovrall. Took it back and got another one and it worked but it still wasn't as bright as the first set I bought for some reason. So the "quality" of these lights is still an unknown but for $16 I don't see how you can go wrong.

We're having a little party tonight also. I'm going to have a house full of pre-teens.....yah!...no really, I'm excited. smirk.gif

Maybe I should just buy all they have. wink.gif No problem I'll pick up three for you. I'm going to get the dog out on some birds tomorrow. I might try to get out early Sunday for awhile, but we've got family coming over Sunday evening, so I'm not sure. I did take Monday off and I think I'm going to be looking for some hard water to hit in the metro area. Let me know what your plans are.

ta[PoorWordUsage],

One strip might be enough for some, but I personally want the extra light. They had a set that ran for a week on the same battery at Gander. I only need it for a few hours at a crack. The battery should be able to handle two strings no problem.

Plus, I need enough to light the runway for the dancing girls. grin.gif
