Tire question

I just bought some Firestone transforce AT's on the recommendation of the guy at the tire shop. Now after driving on them the don't seem to have enough 'bite' for my taste and I wondered if anyone had any input on Goodyear Wrangler ATS. The tire shop guy said he wouldn't recommend the ATS, as they are noisy, and cup. But he did say after I went back in yesterday that the ATS would have more traction. I thought, sure now ya say something. So if any one has some more info on the ATS's it would help me out, because I still have that 30 day ride guarantee in my back pocket.

What are you putting them on? Typically these tires don't do real well on full size Chevy's. The biggest problems are worn front end parts and vehicles out of alignment.

I just put on Firestone Destination At's on my truck and like them I had Goodyears RT/S but they cuped and wore out at 75,000. Here is a link of rated tires that should help. Look where the goodyears ended up.

I am putting them on a full size chevy 2500 HD. So I need a 10-ply tire. It's snowing up here today so I will try these out again today. Thanks for the link.

AT/S are soft rubber and will wear out fast. I myself love BF Goodrich All Terain T/A KO. I have them on my Duramax and have been very satified with them. You just need to keep up on the tire rotation. I had them on my Z71 before the truck I have now and I got over 60,000 out of each set. They are well worth the coin if you ask me. Duler Revo's are suppose to be pretty good to but I can't speak from personal experience on them.

cyber - a friend of mine w/ a 99 burb got the BF Goodrich A/T KO's, it's a 10 ply. I have many friends who swear by them. they are a dated design, but a proven one. They will last and have lots of bite. they ride stiff even under that heavy suburban, good tough tire.

I just got the Bridgestone Deuler A/T Revo's for my 99 Z71 1500. My ride got bouncy, too. I got them because: (1) It's the only heavy duty A/T LT tire with a higher Tire Rack rating than the BFG A/T KO; (2) my buddy already got the BFG's; and (3) the Revo has a dual layer rubber that provides patches of sticker rubber as the main tread wears down, preserving wet and ice traction.

(you can't do anything about losing snow and mud bite with a worn out tire, a slick is a slick is a slick...)

I don't think you can go wrong with either the BF Goodrich A/T KO or the Bridgestone A/T Revo for a 3/4 ton.

I just went to town and back (20 miles) in 2 inches of snow, and my tranforce seemed ok. Maybe I should just get a couple sand bags. They are probably just fines for tires butI liketo make sure I get my money's worth. Maybe I should have posed the question before I bought the tires! haha Thanks guys!

I just wanted to put in another plug for the BFG AT KO's. I bought a set off of 4wheelparts.com and had a local shop mount and balance them for $10/tire and saved $200 over buying them from a tire place. I have had Firestones, Goodyears and BFG's. If you want a good all around tire that is great for off road applications the BFG's are the way to go.

I just bought a set of the transforce for my 1500hd, I really like them. Although they seem a little to grabby cornering. They seem to have way more traction than the factory Dunlops I had. 265 75's

I second the revo's. My wife has revo's on her Sequoia and they handle like a dream in the snow. We have only had them for about 6 months so I don't know how long the tread will last.

Here's another plug for the BFG All-Terrains. Its going to be very, very hard for someone to sell me on a different tire. I've been that pleased with them.

I've got 285s on my 99 Sierra Z71. Very nice!

Same here for the BF Goodrich AT KO. It would take a major incident to think of putting something else on the truck after having used these for 2 years. Fantastic wet, slushy, snow traction.

Only 2 years to come up with that opinion? J/K!! I've been running them for close to 7 years now! Like I said, its gonna take alot to change my mind.

The problem when I switched trucks to my Sierra Z71 was I still had good tread left on the Firestones that came with the Sierra. I was not happy until I got them darn tires off the truck.

I looked at the BFG's on the site where I got theses. Question though....is that strictly a 10-ply tire? I was just wondering because of the price quote on-line was 150 per tire, but without calling them I just wondered if that sounded right. The ones I got were about the same, so it wouldn't cost much to get those. Are the pretty good for milage? I have the Duramax, so I'd like to stay around 20 mpg if I can. Thanks guys!
