Quote:

iFINDER automatically reads Custom Map Files directly from the MMC

or SD Card. To use a custom map, all you need to do is slide an MMC

containing a map into the unit.

THAT IS FROM THE LOWRANCE SITE.

I AM NOT FAMILAR ENOUGH WITH THAT PARTICULAR ONE TO HELP YOU. IF YOU PUT THE CARD IN WHEN ITS OFF AND TURN IT ON IT YOU CAN SEE IT LOAD THE NEW CARD IF IT IS DOING SO. IF ITS NOT SHOWING UP I WOULD SAY FOR SOME REASON IT ISN'T SEEING THE CARD.

DEITZ,

AS FAR AS HAVING TO GO AND SELECT THE PARTICULAR CARD.....I WOULDN'T THINK YOU WOULD HAVE TO DO THAT BECAUSE I THOUGHT THIS UNIT HAS ONLY ONE MMC/SD SLOT SO THERE WOULDN'T BE A REASON TO HAVE TO SWITCH BETWEEN MULTIPLE CARDS.....?

SOMEONE SHOULD BE ABLE TO HELP YOU.

Is this an Ifinder Pro H20, if so a Lakemaster is totally compatible as is to all Lakemaster chips, it has the latest processor, the chip needs to be put in before turning it on and the selected in the Maps option, a select and enter allows scrolling the maps than it will highlight, you have to leave the chip in always to read the maps, you cannot load and then remove it and put in a data card, its one or the other but keep a data card with you to dowmload waypoints when it gets cluttered. If it is not a Ifinder Pro H20 it is not custom map compatible. Regular Ifinders are Mapcreate compatible only, should really say the Pros are Navionics compatible and the regular Ifinders are not,

but looks like they are Lakemaster compatible only for lake map chips, and Freedoms, I have one in the truck and can sequence it thru for you if needed.

Whitetips it is not the pro, just Ifinder H20.

Harpoon I do not have the software to update on line. I should have the chip in 3-5 day, no hard water yet anyway...

iFINDER H2O owners,

with the above mentioned chip upgrades and such, does the unit display depth contours along with the map, as the new GPS/depth finders do??

thanks in advance,

goose

Just so everybody knows.. the IFinder H2O and the IFinder Pro are the exact same unit, EXCEPT, the H2O is waterproof.. the Pro is water RESISTANT!... Otherwise identical.. I got to talk to the Regional Sales manager for Lowrance this last weekend.. I was in the market for a hand held that worked with the MMC chip I already owned for my Lowrance Depthfinder... I ended up going with the IFinder Pro...

And to add to the simuliarity and differences. The Hunt I Finder is identical to the H2O other than the hunt is camo, has realtime compass(will point direction even if you stand in place) and has hunting icons. Otherwise they are identical units. The H2O you must take a couple of steps to get a direction of travel with the compass.

Here is the sequence on a map chip,

Menu

map options

scroll to and highLgt map choice

then press enter

highlght the lakemaster chip usually like LM something.

enter

exit

make sure your map categories has everything checked and turned on, also show map borders that way you can tell there loading properly.

One other little wrinkle with the mapping chips; the Navionics Gold chip needs to be "chosen" in the map data field, it is not purely "plug and play." The default map is the unit's "Lowrance" map. There are about 4 different areas included with the Navionics chip. They are broken out into two regions for Minnesota and a few others for WI, MI, and IA. You have to choose the region to view the appropriate lake detail. This map chip has more detail for some lakes but is much slower than the Lowrance brand. The Lowrance brand chip is truly plug and play.

I just bought my H2O and lakemaster chip a couple weeks ago. All I did was put the lakemaster chip in and turn it on.

I get the cast off Friday and can't wait to get on the water with it. I think I'm going to play around on on white bear just to get the feel of it, and maybe do some fishing! If you see a guy in a lund that looks really confused and isn't catching anything feel free to stop by and say hi! grin.gif

Just noticed today some of the stores are selling the h2o for $169.00 down from 229 a few days ago, is this because of the new color units coming out now. If so do you think they will sell for less this winter? shocked.gif
