Bob Horn
What happened there John. I thought the bears would have done better(more scoring) but detroit shut them down. We have a good defense but the offense is some to be desired. How was hunting this weekend?
lots of luck
Bear-down Chicago Bears...It is often ugly but I like the results. If my boy Orton can just play a little more consistent, they may win a few games.
scalescratcher
Hey LOL! I remain cautiously optimistic but that "D" has perfomed right up to my expectations. I agree that if Kyle can continue to improve and mature this season may go on longer than most expected!
M.T. Bucket
The Bears are one of only 2 teams that haven't given up 100 points yet this season...and the other, Indianapolis, hasn't played yet this week. This weekend was the first in a long time I was cheering the Vikes 'cause it helped put some space between Chicago and Detroit. Orton is only going to get better, especially as he realizes that he doesn't have to be perfect with a D that's perfectly capable of winning games with or without offense. Doesn't hurt that every other team in the division is AWFUL. Now the only problem is Fox Sports...the only time they air Bears games in northern Minnesota is if the Vikings or Packers aren't playing at the same time. Far as I can tell, most of these two teams' fans are out raking their lawns or doing anything else they can to forget about this season...might as well air a team worth seeing. TNFL
I wouldn't be too excited about your bears. Looks like a first round exit to me. If they even seal the deal on the division. And believe me I'm not excited about any of the teams in this division. Looks like I'm going to have more fish in my freezer than usual this winter. lots of luck
Please don't hate on our division leading Bears, at 5-3 we are optimistic. Obviously there is still half of a season remaining, but hopefully the defense will continue to carry the team as Cedric Benson, Kyle Orton, and the rest of the team develops. Unlike the Packers with their aged QB, the Vikings with their back-up QB, and the Lions with something that does not resemble anything like a QB, Chicago has a lot of up-side with a young team.I would agree to not get overly charged regarding the play-offs. Let's just hope they get there first. Lots of time left for injuries and misfortunes to occur.
lots of luck
Bears vs. 49ers this weekend. Is this a glorified bye week this year or should da bears be worried? It is the NFL, stuff happens.6-3 would have a nice ring to it.

The Bears are on top of a pathetic division with 5 wins against teams with a combined 12-28 record and 3 losses against teams with a 15-10 record. That to me says they have done nothing to prove they can beat a playoff team which is a requirement to get out of the first round of the playoffs. You are correct. Besides 2001 (13-3) look at the past recoeds starting with Coach Wanny. I will take a division win in a rotten division.
TNFL
In defense of my comment, How did da bearesss do in the playoffs in 2001...right. And they are not as good now as they were lucky that year.
lots of luck
Quote: In defense of my comment, How did da bearesss do in the playoffs in 2001...right. And they are not as good now as they were lucky that year. No need to be on the defense, I don't think anyone is trying to be on the offensive? This one is civil. Ok they stink, but all I know is they stink less then the three teams in their division, at this point in the season. Da Bears or Bears fans should not be apologizing for the current state of the division. Kind of silly we are having this discussion 8 weeks out from the playoffs, but it is always fun to speculate. A good defense has won many a playoff games. If you can stop them then you don't need to try to outscore them, except by one point of course. lots of luck
So the Bears are now 6-3 against some very questionable teams. This week they will have their first test against a better team, Carolina Panthers.I don't think Cody Pickett (49ers QB) is back this weekend, unfortunately.I just can't see a win againt the Panthers, maybe having home field advantage for Chicago will be their biggest or only advantage. This division is still wide open, we may be looking at a Jan.1st Vikings vs. Bears game for the division title. lots of luck
Kick A$$!!!! Thank god the clowns at FOX 9 had their HSOforum incorrect on Fri, they stated the Lions/Cowboys were going to be the regional game of the week, just keep to your fine investigative stories please. So I did get to watch the game and what I watched made me really excited. The defense is tenacious, while the offense is just good enough. A lot of dropped passes by the receivers. Here are some notes regarding the defense. "The NFC South-leading Panthers (7-3) saw their six-game win streak end. After scoring at least 20 points in every game, they managed 238 yards against the NFL's No. 1 defense, and quarterback Jake Delhomme was sacked eight times." "Vasher's first pick led to a 3-yard touchdown reception for former Panther Muhsin Muhammad, and the second resulted in a 33-yard field goal by Robbie Gould in the first quarter. The second-year pro has six interceptions." "Adewale Ogunleye tied a career-high with three sacks, and Alex Brown added two and forced two fumbles for the Bears (7-3)." Here are the offensive notes to notice. In addition to blasting open holes, the Bears' offensive line did not allow a sack for the second straight game. It's an especially impressive feat considering that ends Julius Peppers and Mike Rucker lead a Panthers defense that had registered 19 sacks in its previous four games. Offensively, Thomas Jones (25 carries for 87 yards) and Adrian Peterson (4-37) combined to rush for 124 yards on 29 carries against a Panthers defense that had entered the game ranked second in the NFL against the run, yielding an average of just 81 yards. Another tough test next week in Tampa Bay. Hope Da Bears can rattle Chris Simms early.
buzzsaw
Can I get some props... I was one of the few that said the Bears would be good this year!! I just can't believe their defense is playing so well! Congrats so far Lot's of luck!!
Down to Earth
I'll give you some props. Especially with your Packer-Viking score predictions. Speaking of props check out my predictions on the NFC North from a previous thread.1. Bears - If Urlacher stays healthy they have the best defense in the division. Also this pick is contingent on the assumption that Orton continues to progress as he has in the preseason. He has looked good and if he can lead this offense this should be a good team. If Orton flops in the regular season I drop them down behind the Vikes and Lions.2. Vikings - The only reason I'm not putting them #1 is the lack of running game I've seen in preseason, Birk out for the season, a lot of penalties and I still have questions about the defense. Probably though they end up winning the division.3. Lions - I'm still not convinced Harrington is the QB this team needs. Also seeing the Rams blow up on their defense Monday night brings in questions as well. They need to rest heavy on the legs of Kevin Jones. If Jones has a big year and Harrington proves he can belongs as a starting QB in the NFL they could challenge for the division.4. Packers- Defense is still VERY POOR and the O-Line doesn't appear to be able to absorb the loss of the 2 guards as well as I originally thought or hoped. Could end up being a long year for us Packer Backers. Hopefully NFL Parity can keep us in enough games to pull out some extra wins.
M.T. Bucket
Didn't get to watch this one...followed it online though. Looked pretty tight, maybe it wasn't a nailbiter if you actually got to see it. DA BEARS!!
lots of luck
M.T. I listened to the game while treking across Illinois from my homeland of Indiana and once again the defense was very good. Three sacks on Simms, and the costly turnover for the Bucs that resulted in a 2 yard drive that took all of 6 seconds. The offense was pretty much a lame duck. It may result in wins now, but will not be sufficient in a playoff situation.Grossman may be a factor in the near future.
