ND Jig Head
BUZZ STIX - do they work? I have been reading this forum for quite a while and have never herd them mentioned. Any opinions?
ozzie
can they make your lure dance with the touch of a button? YES do they work? I have caught many fish with my buzz stick but it is no better than a good rod and reel combo other than the fact that i can push a button and my lure jiggles a little more naturaly than me jigging and shaking to get the same movement.....Fun to have but nothing to special about the set-up... berke99
A friend gave me one for Christmas last year. I am glad I did not pay for it. It is a good idea but it just does not work that good. I used it in about 15 feet of water with fire line. I lowered the camera to watch it, and you could not see any movement at all on the lures I have used. I have heard that it works good fishing shallow for pan fish.
sakazulu
Just another toy. I lost the push button and battery on mine somewhere in transit to a spot. Probably o.k. for shallow water in cover for panfish. My thought? Just skip it.
Deitz Dittrich
They make a new one, that you can leave on and will cycle threw a series of vibrations... Would I buy one as my main rod.. Probably not. I would lean more twards a quality rod from Midwest Rods, or something like that...However as a dead stick rod, I do think they have a place. Why not have a rod that you can turn on and put in a rod holder next to you that will jig its-self. I think its a great idea!
Bob Horn
Buy a quality rod from Midwest, Thorns Bros, or a St. Croix Legend. The rod (line at times)is what you detect the bite with, so why would you want to buy something that just vibrates in your hand. Do yourself a favor and buy at least one quality rod and you will see the difference.
cliffy
I got one from my wife for christmas two years ago. Kinda a cool idea but does not seem to do much. I agree with others, save your money, buy a good rod and reel instead. I get better action using my st.croix and drinking three or more cups of coffee.....can make my jig dance like a mad man. Animal
I put the BuzzStick on the shelf with my Color-C-Lector.
-Marc V-
I wouldn't buy another one. I had one last year. The dancing motion is nice in shallow water, but you can replicate the same thing by tapping on the rod, or like suggested before drinking a lot of coffee. I had an instense dislike for the rod. Like mentioned above, ice fishing is all about feeling the bite, and these rods are made with some type of hinge, or something that connects the handle to the rod. I feel this looses a lot of sensitivity, and while playing a fish do not have as much control because of the hinge, or whatever that deal is. Take the money you would spend on a Buz-Stik, throw a little more in the pool and buy a higher quality rod. Just my two cents.
I'llTakeWhatiCanGet
In my opinion, they're a hell of a lot better at catching the eyes of fishermen's wives than at catching fish. Could keep the little lady occupied in the fishhouse though...
