The Updated Pitcher Comparisons

OK Rundrave,

I wanted to wait till the end of the season to revisit our comparison on the Sox pitchers vs. YO Han but you guys seem to have a huge Yohan "chubby" going so here goes.

In the immortal words of Jimmy Johnson and Barry Switzer...JUST WIN BABY!

That's my motto too. Don't bore me with WISP DISP LISP or what ever other acronym you can come up with...JUST WIN BABY! So let's go to the board and compare our boys.

Lets see...YO Han has 15 wins and 7 losses, not bad for a mediocre underachieving punch and judy hitting team this year.

OK Let's take a look-see at the White Sox...Shall we?

Mr. Garland has 17 wins...Wait, that's more than 15?

Mr. Buehrle has 16 wins...Wait, that's more than 15?

Mr. Contreras (who will start the 1st game of the playoffs for the CENTRAL DIVISION CHAMPS) has 15 wins....Wait, that's the same as YO Han and both have 7 losses.

Mr. Garcia has 14 wins...Congrats, Yo Han on clawing your way out of the 4th best pitcher spot on the White Sox and tying for 3rd. YOU'VE COME A LONG WAY, BABY! Too bad you won't be doing anymore pitching after October 2nd, you may have taken over 3rd place outright.

And as for the "tomato can" comment, Einstein. I never called YO Han a "tomato can"...I called the pitcher that beat the Great YO Han a tomato can. That is even a bigger dis'.

YOU CAN PUT IT ON THE BOARD...YES!

Ok....lets work on the "just win baby" comment and maybe even expand that to "win when it counts". Johan did not lose after the All Star break last year and was the main reason for the Twinks running away with the division. Your boys fell apart in the 2nd half and were a big reason your team had to sweat it out when they should have been coasting by Labor Day.

Furthermore, Roger Clemens has 12 wins with a 1.89 ERA. He is 51st in the majors in wins. Does that mean such illustrious names as Crain, Byrd, Lowry, Webb, Maroth, and Chen are better pitchers than the Rocket Man because they had more wins. Your team took the division. You are getting the accolades you wanted. It is o.k. to take off the little kiddie blinders and own up that your boys may have been the best team but not the best individuals.

Windy not sure as to why your calling me out, but anyways let me paste some yohan stats:

Santana has thrown 21 1/3 scoreless innings against the White Sox with a record of 4-0, had an 0.86 ERA and allowed just 20 hits in 31 1/3 innings in his four previous starts against Chicago this season.

Down the stretch complete domination over the central division champs. Give me any stats from any of the scrubs on the sox that are that great.

I guess when Santana finishes 2nd to Colon for AL cy-young, and ahead of all the white sox pitchers, all the sports writers, coaches etc will be in agreement.

Beuhrle, Garland and Santana each have another start...Santana could yet get to Windy's magical '16' win mark.

And by the way, using Windy's measure (Just Win), he must be conceding that Colon (21 wins) is the runaway Cy Young candidate in the AL...

Also if your going to compare pitchers, and base only on wins, shouldnt you being throwing in losses in that category too? Oh wait, that would make some of the sox pitchers look bad, nevermind.

How is winning 17 games and losing 10, any better than someone going 15-7. Garland may have won 2 more games, but he also lost 3 more?

Windy actually conceded the CY Young to Colon a while back. My question, which I posted in my "Questions for Windy" thread is has he moved Lee from Cleveland ahead of Garland and Buerhle as he has more wins than the 2.

how many no decisions does santana have? I bet it leads the league AL anyways

Since you brought up no decisions, here are the results of a little research I did. Remember the only thing that matters is wins. Here are the facts. Sorry it doesn't line up right, but you will be able to decipher it.

Pitcher/ Team Wins/ Team Losses/ Team Win % of start

Santana 22 9 68.75

Garland 19 12 61.29

Buehrle 19 13 59.38

I don't believe any further explanation is needed.
