WallyGator12000
Stubby I had that thought too originally, and I am 99.9% sure that the unit will mount right onto the tray the soft case is built around. This same tray will hold the battery and has the arm for the transducer cord. If I am wrong, someone please enlighten me, but as far as I know the soft case includes this hard plastic tray as a integrated piece. Oh and as another update, I called Cabela's this afternoon (after I replied to your email Matchman) and talked to customer service concerning my soft pack, charger and battery. The woman who started out extremely friendly immediately got a bit more "rough" on the phone when she realized what I was calling about. She told me they are in contact with Marcum in an attempt to get the items to complete the package, and they don't know anything yet. So my stuff has not shipped, needless to say. I explained to her that I was told they would be shipped from Cabela's parts department, but she told me the parts department was dealing with Marcum. I then asked what would happen if the parts I ordered with this deal were unavailible from Marcum and she said we would "cross that bridge when we got to it." As a result, I made sure they would notify me when they knew more, and told her I was expecting to receive what I ordered, and she replied that they were doing the best they could. Where this leaves this apparently more complicated issue than originally thought, I am not sure, but you better believe I will fight to get the things I ordered, or at least compensation for them. But past that, even just 239.99 for the unit is a great deal. Hope this helps shed a little light for everyone else on this, let's stay in touch and help eachother out. Thanks! CNY Tim
You are right it will mount to the base bracket...Also I wanted to tell you guys I just received a Cabela's mail order from UPS and inside the box with my stuff was a sales paper and on the back of the last page there was the MarCum LX-3 Ice System for that price. I would be more than happy to send a copy of the sales add if you guys have any problems.
stubby1
Wallygator,I hope you are right cause I'd hate to call back to Cabelas again.By the sounds of it customer service is starting to a little testy.CNYTIM,After I talked with the gal at cabelas yesterday they are aware of the mix up and are advising the people that call that they made a mistake, they caught it last Saurday. They are righting the mix ups by sending the right stuff but after last saturday cabelas are supposedly telling everyone that calls that the lx3 that they are sell for this price is the summer mounted unit, not the ice fishing package.By the way she was stressing it makes me think they aren't going to be willing to resolve any differnces in the future if not already.I quess what I am saying, if you call expecting the ice fishing package, they are going to tell you that they are selling the summer package and thats all you are going to get.BUT I may be wrong.Someone out there prove me one way or the other.Good luck
Bigbartguy
fyiI ordered mine on Tuesday and they didnt say anything about it being the summer package but actually said it was the full ice fishing setup. Mine is coming via ups today (quick shipping I will say!!) so looks like I'll have to call Cabela's also and let them know that I didnt get what was advertised. I think patience and politeness may be the ticket in this situation. They do need to get their upfront service reps up-to-speed very quickly about the error and let people know when they attempt to order.
Bigbartguy
well I'm out of it. Service rep told me that they are aware of the mixup. They contacted Marcum thinking that they were missing parts, but Marcum said that those are the units that they are supposed to have so Marcum wont be doing anything about it. I was told I could either send it back for refund or keep it as is. I'm sending it back. I'm also getting all of my shipping fees refunded (after asking about it). There goes my dream of a cheap Marcum setup! I hope the rest of you guys get the parts. I'm rooting for you!
WallyGator12000
Well here's my story too... I called customer service again last night after reading Bigbartguy's post, and they told me the same thing, sorry, can't get the parts, keep it as is or return it. But then I thought up the hail mary play, I asked the woman if I could exchange it at a retail store for the ice system. She said that was definitely a good idea, she couldn't assure me it would work but I would have to deal with the retail store's customer service people. SO...I called the cabela's in Owatonna last night, got them to put one of their four FULL ICE SYSTEMS on hold for me, and then spoke to a customer service rep, she told me just to come in and they would take care of it, and they did! I went in right when they opened this morning at 8, and at 8:12 I walked out with my new full ice kit, with all the extras. The woman just needed to see my receipt and the ad I ordered from, as well as she needed to know that the catalog customer service sent me to her. After I explained the whole deal she said, "yep, looks like you were gonna get a bum deal, you should have gotten this one, here you go." So all in all, for me it took a lot more work than I thought, and a bit more gas money, but I got the LX-3 ice system for $239.99! LOL, I don't know what I am going to do with myself now that I have so much free time and I don't have to spend it on the phone with Cabela's customer service reps... CNY Tim
My feeling is Cabela's screwed all this up., all be it unintentionally but to have that advertised and pictured in there sales paper Cabela's should be the ones that fix that. Wally I'm glad yours worked out it's just too bad the ones that purchased what I believe was an LX-3 ice system were sent the open water kit. You got a steal that's for sure. Your going to love your LX-3!
Kylersk
I just got email confimation that my soft pack and cabelas battery/charger were shipped. I should get them on monday according to the tracking info. I hope it's the marcum soft case and not the cabelas.. but either will work, I guess. Matchman
GRRRRR.... Its a good thing this is such a good deal. Otherwise, I'd be really upset. After all the back and forth with customer service, they relented and sent me a soft side case, battery, and charger. I received all three this morning and there's a couple of problems. First, there's nothing to mount the unit on. No carriage of any sort which, of course, is in the Marcum package. Second, there's no battery charge indicator or auto shutoff charger. The Marcum package also has that. So, others may be getting the same junk I am. I'm not sure what the solution is but it sounds like a trip to Owatonna is in order. I hope this works. Otherwise, it'll be 140 miles and about 3 hours wasted. I'll keep y'all updated.
TheIceFishingKid
Matchman Dont drive all the way down to Owatonna the Cabela's store in Rogers is opening on Oct 14th. Give that a try first.

WallyGator12000
Matchman, I would for sure give the customer service in Owatonna a call before you go, make sure they put a unit on hold for you, when I got mine there were only 3 left there. It worked so slick though, I can't even tell you, just have your receipt and if you can a copy of the bargain hunter ad, and you should be in business, like my above post it took me maybe 10 minutes to get mine, they were very sympathetic and helpful. Good luck guys!
Kylersk
Yup, I got the same thing.... Soft case without mounting system, cabelas battery and charger but no status indicator. I think I may just buy the Vexilar pro pack 2 and float, then buy the marcum Digital charging system. I'm not really interested in driving down to owatana to try and exchange. $238 is still a good deal, just not GREAT like I thought. =)

Kylersk
Nothing! Just with gas prices, it's not really worth the time and effort to head there.
TheIceFishingKid
For those of you who did order it and dont want to drive all the way down to Owatonna give it another 10 days and try the new Cabela's store in Rogers. Its right off I-94 10 minutes west of Minneapolis.
Matchman
Went to Cabela's this AM and got my full LX-3 setup but not without a little more wrangling. In the end, I had to pay about another $15 but it was still worth it. A full LX-3 for $270? Yes, please!!!
WallyGator12000
Glad to hear that it worked out for you Matchman, but what happened with the additional wrangling? When I did it they didn't give me any grief at all...guys, I think the trip to Owatonna is the ticket here!
stubby1
Update: I just got my package from cabelas today. All I got was a carrying case for the hand held marcum depth finder (LX-I).I am goimg thru Grand Fork this weekend and I quess I 'll be stopping at East Grand Forks Cabelas And see if they will exchange the unit or I 'll be sending this back.I did some calling around and found A place the will honor Cabelas sale prices for the same unit.Question is, after this mess is all over, do I want to take advantage of this situation with them.If you really think about it would you??
leechlake
stubby1, I wouldn't take advantage of anyone. If I'm reading some of these post right (I apologize to those that were mislead rightfully) people purposely purchased the item knowing it didn't include some items and then called, complained, and Cabelas "made it right." If that's the case, that's pathetic. To those that were truthfully misled I fully agree you have the right to get all of the components in the photo. For those that purchased the unit knowing you could get what you want by complaining it's not right. It's the old "treat people like you want to be treated." katoguy
Agreed, leechlake.I am sure that there is also the inclusion "prices and specifications are subject to change without notice". Honest mistakes do happen. They are not forced to give it to you at that price. Perhaps someone in marketing at the supplier also okayed the ad and missed it??? We'll never know. Bigbartguy
I completely agree- misprints happen and who knows who's fault it was. I think the problem is that Cabela's apparently knew about the error, but were still telling people it was the full system.Their service computer's should have said "there was a misprint, make sure the customer understands they will only get etc etc". My rep even called headquarters and was told that it was the full meal deal. I sent mine back and ordered from profishingstore. Not worth the hassle to me although I can understand why people want the whole system - it's what some were told they would receive.
katoguy
Right. Something should flash on their computer screen letting the order taker know of the error and how they should handle it. More power to them if the step up!
