Benelli Nova

I thought about it last year. I didn't like how loose the parts were. The pump/stock and slides has plenty of wiggle/shake. Everything just seemed to rattle and clank as you pump/eject the gun.

The gun is super light and has some nice features, no doubt. I went with the Browning BPS. Its heavier, but ohh so smooth in the action department.

A good friend of mune just bought the super black eagle and the barrel rusted badly after one use, and it happened overnight. They must have forgot a part of the finishing process. He is attempting to get it replaced. We'll see what happens.

I won one last week at a DU banquet. From my personal preference standpoint I thought it wasn't the most attractive gun and I would agree that it seems really loose, regarding parts fitting snugly and soundly into other parts. I would think the guys that use them though, would be better at answering how it works and from the posts above they like it, so I defer to them. If you like the way it looks then buy one it you don't I'd pick up an 870 Express.

The Novas are tanks. I have two friends that own them, and they abuse these guns all fall. If I duck/goose hunted more, I'd probably own one.

It's to the point where I won't loan either of them a gun for a trip because I know they'll treat it like their Nova.

They're the kinds of guys that would put a wet gun in a case already, but I've watched them drop it in mud, forget to clean it after a long trip of use, bang the stock/forearm on a boat gunwhale, etc. After 3-4 years, they don't look pretty, but shoot and operate very well.

It would seem to me this gun would be great for a youngster because of the weight and durability.

I have had one for 3 years for a back up to my Browning Gold 3.5" semi. Unfortunately the Nova gets A LOT of use and it flat out works. I have never had one single problem with it at all. I have used it during snow goose hunts during ice storms and it has performed flawlessly. It requires very little up keep which is just what I was looking for after my Browning experience.

I've had one now for about 4 or 5 years... I use it for hunting as well as trap & skeet league where it gets used pretty regularily during the summer... no problems at all with it... I get some looks on league nights (mostly because it's not an over / under) but it works for me...

I've had mine for all of 2 weeks now, it's been the downfall of 3 geese and 12 doves in that time, I like how it shoots, and it is the lightest thing out there if you ask me. Was worried about it because i got some dump in the action/receiver while goose hunting, but it kept right on going.

OK maybe some of the Nova owners can help me out here. I'm looking to get an H.S. Undertaker choke tube for my Nova but everywhere I've looked they only have them for Mossberg, Browning, Remington, etc. but none to fit Beretta/Benelli. I have heard that Mossberg and Benelli choke tubes are interchangeable. Anybody know if there's truth to this? Thanks a lot.

P.S. I love my Nova. This will be my 4th year hunting with it and it's never let me down. In all that time I only had it jam once. It was my first time shooting 3 1/2" shells and I didn't pump it far enough.

I have a nova I love it more than my own mother. The nova is a tank and I heard you can also use the nova for a canoe pattle. I love my nova. Yes I would like to have a super mag wingmaster. but I looked at the price on the nova. I was talking to a friend and I said I didnt even read up on the gun I just brought it for the price. He said you did a darn good mistake. Nova is a good 1st shotgun for a youngin.

later guys good luck shootin this year grin.gif

i have owned the nova for a year now. i LOVE that gun. the first trip i took it on i shot very well and when the guys in the blind saw it and heard what i paid for it the next trip 2 out of 3 of them were shooting brand new novas. i hunted late season in the freezing cold temps and also in SD for snows in the spring with freezing rain and snow with no problems. i would recommend this gun to anyone who wants a great gun for a great price. now i just wish they would make a 10 gauge in that model.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
