Buzzsaw that is one incredible fish. The mount itself is nice but the paint job is not very good. I don't care what water a walleye comes out of, they don't have that much white on them. The brown makes it look more like smallmouth colorings. It would be interesting to compare your mount to a picture of the fish when you caught it. Unless your fish is very distinctly colored I would consider getting it repainted. Fish that size are incredibly rare and you should capture what it really looked like.

I have to agree with everyone about that paint job. That is a rare fish and that paint job is too. Maybe Buzzsaw was looking for the custom look? Have you ever considered having ghost flames painted behind the gill plate and possibly a skull and crossbones somewhere on the top of the head? Maybe lower the fins and drop her in the weeds too? grin.gif

Nice fish anyway,

I suppose re-painting it would be an option, I could just treat this paint job as the primer. grin.gif I thought it was too brown as well when I received it but was still giddy with the mount. Does anybody have a local person that is good at painting mounts? I may consider getting it re-painted. The original fish was from the Mississippi river and was pale green with a big white belly... see....

P.S. Corey, that Crappie must be like 8 lbs... it's like five times as big as your head! grin.gif

Buzzsaw, it looks to me that the sun is just coming up or setting in the pic of you and the walleye. The sun is therefore casting light on the belly of the fish making it seem a bright white color. It may be a bright white, but the sun makes it stand out more than normal. The taxidermist looked at the pic and didn't consider that it was the sun. Plus, I don't think he matched the colors very well to begin with. He must of had smallie on the brain! I'd get her repainted as well. It is a fish of a lifetime...at least it should look right on the wall!

LMAO OFF @ COREY. THAT IS FUNNY!!

I AGREE WITH YOU GUYS THAT PAINT IS JUST NOT RIGHT. THAT IS A NICE FISH AND YOU DON'T WANT THE TAXIDERMIST TO RUIN IT FOR YOU. AS FAR AS GETTING IT REPAINTED I WOULD TAKE IT BACK TO HIM WITH THE PICTURE AND ASK HIM IF HE SEE'S ANY SIMULARITIES. THEN HAVE HIM REDO IT FOR YOU FOR FREE. IF HE IS CAPABLE. THE WAY HE HAS IT PAINTED IT SEEMS LIKE A FAKE FISH, A FAKE SMALLMOUTH WITH A EEL POUT GILL PLATE AND A CATFISH BELLY. DID HE KNOW IT WAS A WALLEYE?? wink.gif REALLY THO BUZZSAW I DON'T MEAN TO MAKE FUN OF YOUR FISH BUT YOU HAVE TO GET THAT TAKEN CARE OF FOR YOU, LIKE EVERYONE SAID THIS IS A ONCE IN A LIFETIME DEAL!
