Just got back from a week on basswood. 9th - 16th. First few days were tough for walleye, but the Northern and Bass were fairly simple to catch, made for good shore lunch. Last few days were better for eyes. Our best day was 19 eyes all in the 14 to 17 inch range, plus a 5.25 lb. and a 4lb. eye. Beautiful fish. Also we released a 21.5 inch smallie as well as a 24inch smallie - what a monster!! Our best day was up in Frog Bay working the weed lines with leeches and a plain hook. I would say there was a 10mph south wind blowing into this bay - which was key. Anyway, there were 8 of us and everyone was able to bring home their eating sized limit. I noticed one gentleman who fished the south end of Lincoln Island for hours upon hours. To each is their own, but this guy is keeping large fish, unfortunate!!

awww, I've caught 33" of smallmouth on the same bait once, but it consisted of two fish! I don't know if I would believe a 24"er. I fished smallmouth in 9 out of 10 tournaments 3 years ago and only boated a couple in the 22" class (Minnewaska).

Last year my first smallie of the season was a 22"er on Tonka, Booyaycaasha!
