I took my wifes uncle out in the metro on monday and he hooked into a 38 incher, and i came up with scales on one cast after a missed attempt by mr. musky. Also had a high forties fish miss my phantom at boatside and saw two others.

Small fire tiger bucktail took the 38 , and phantoms are getting some action.

We were on Forest on the 4th (Pre-crowd). We had two follows, with one being a big old cow, However as has been the case no takers. However I flung a Reef Hawg in amongst some weeds and twitched it a couple of times and a 9.5 pound Northern inhaled it. About 15 min. later my wife caught a dandy 10.5 pound Northern on a Bucktail. So all in all, we will be going back.

I started off rather well fishing Tonka. I boated 5 fish the first 3 weeks of the season, the biggest a 44 and a 41 and the rest were 36-38 all were on bucktail/ spinnerbaits.Alot of follows also.I also spent 4 days on LOW, and I had high hopes of hooking up with at least one ski - and to my complete dismay it didn't happen. I had one good fish on and one follow all in a short span of time. The walleye fishing was tough for us also. We managed enough for dinner and that was it.

I think we are about to turn the corner. We have a had warm weather for several days and the fish could turn on any day now. The fish I have been seeing just are not that hot. It could be because of cool spring or unstable weather but all that will be behind us soon. I can't wait for the top water bite to get going.

Couple follows in the metro on Wed night, they were a little more "on the move" than a couple weeks ago. Little more steam behind the follow, nothing huge but encouraging.

Hoping the hot weather next week will kick start some things.

I was out on Independence on Thursday. Got there at 3 in the afternoon and three casts into the day lost a 45. I set the hook and she came all the way out of the water and threw the bait. Had 5 other follows, one pushing 50 and another in the high forties.

Like I said yesterday I think the bite is going to get better fast. Yesterday I went out an put three in the boat. We had many other blowups on topwater in the evening. Something I haven't seen yet this year. I think the next few evenings will be awesome. Good luck

Anyone fishing the northern lakes? I have been out on Vermilion a few times in the last week and have been moving alot of fish but having a tough time hooking anything. In fact I had three fish blow up on a top water the other morning but none of em took it down. Looked like one of em didnt even have her mouth open. Couldnt buy a follow on anything else. I will be up there all weekend coming up so I am hoping to put something in the boat. Good luck guys and thanks ahead of time for any info.

I got to fish Cross lake by pine city for the first time sunday. My dad and i saw 5 fish. All the fish were deep in the weeds and only 1/2 heartly nipped at spinnerbaits ripped through. at one point, a musky jumped-away from our hooks- but just came completely out of the water and seemed to hang like a marlin. Extremely cool, but not as great as it would have been on my line. Good luck,

I got to go out early Tuesday morning. Put a 41 incher in the boat and had two other blow ups on topwaters. I saw one surface about thirty feet away from the boat, so I threw out a topraider and he came up and hit it but no hookup. The fishing was good until the clouds disappeared around 9am. I fished white bear later that night and it was pretty slow. Only had one lazy follow. Talked to a few other boats and I only heard of one 30 inch fish. I don't think I will be able to get for the rest of the week, but I'm leaving for a week at vermillion on saturday. I am staying on the west end. Does anyone know how things have been going up there?

The last time I fished up there was over the 4th. I had some pretty good action on topwater with a few blow ups but no hook ups except for a couple nice pike. Guys I have been talking too say the lake is starting to heat up this last week or two with this steady hot weather. I was at my in laws yesterday just to cool off in the lake and the water temp at their dock was 82!! I am going to be up there from this afternoon through Sunday so I have my hopes high right now smile.gif Good luck.
