Here is info from a post a long time ago:

They are very big files, but here they are:

To view them, check out the link below. I use GIS software, so I'm not sure how well the free viewers work. Enjoy!

I have also used the land management HSOforum to download aerial photo's. You can download an entire county, and then open them in the viewer. With the viewer you can create custom maps - I use the GeoExpress Viewer by ILS.

The photo's you get from google are not very high quality and don't show very much detail.

Here is a picture of a lake I was able get using the land management HSOforum, and the viewer. Keep in mind this image has been significantly shrunk in order to post it, the original file size was quite a bit larger so I can zoom in on parts of the lake to look at the structure.

Unfortunately for most of the lakes I fish, the maps I get are not nearly as useful. It is usually windy when they take the photo's and you can't see much.

This one is awesome, especially if you compare it to the existing lake maps that exist for it.

Can anyone name that lake?

Biglakeba$$,

What kind of GIS software do you use? I work in the GIS field. Do you?

Here's another link to some aerials on the LMIC HSOforum:

These are NAP (National Map) photos for the USGS. They are 1 foot pixel resolution which is very good for free stuff.

I really like google maps for the ease of use and also the ability to "drag" the image vs reloading everytime you go off the border. Here's an example of Waconia:
