Back trolling

what gunflint said.. and I'll throw in the driver doesnt have to worry about getting anyones line in the prop(tiller models) whick is a huge bonus if your making sharp turns trying to follow a break, or avoid a weedline.

backtrolling is ideal for presenting live bait presentations, or verticle jigging... more or less, any presentation that very slow boat speed is ideal, and control is a must.

bassman, it is not really even close between backtrolling and using the bow mount. when you are using the bow mount the wind and waves are pounding into the side of the boat therefore affecting how closely you are able to stay on a specific spot. with backtrolling you are able to point the transom of your boat directly into the wind and hold it either with your trolling motor or big motor depending on the wind. with this method you are able to stay on a spot much more effectively....

Tillers Rock, for this very reason. 10 years ago I bought a Lund 1850 Gran Sport with a bow troller. Did one Walley turney in it and sold it! for a smaller tiller. Great boat! Just not for fishing hard and gettin in the zone. I believe that fisherman and boat can become one in a tiller shocked.gif Did I just say that confused.gif

I will allways have a tiller grin.gif
