eyepatrol
This might be a rediculous question, but I thought I'd ask anyway. If a person goes out fishing at, say at 10:00p.m., and catches his/her limit of walleye by midnight, can they stay out past midnight and catch another limit of walleye being it's officially the next day? or Can you only have one limit of fish per person in the boat at any point in time? Maybe the state regs address this issue and I just haven't read them close enough, but thought I'd ask for anyone else's opinion or understanding of the law. I for one don't night fish, so I won't have to ever worry about this. Just one of those thoughts that came to mind while dreaming of fishing for walleye! PerchJerker
Possession limit is the same as the daily limit. If you have a limit you can't keep any more until you eat the ones you already have. Doesn't matter when you caught them - today, yesterday, last week, last year. You are only allowed to possess one daily limit at a time.
EYEHUNTER10
Thats right I had a huge argument with a dude on the ice this year when he said he had 80 crappies in his freezer. Glad I hate frozen fish.
MRWALLEYE2005
What if you give some fish to a older grandmas and grampas who cant fish?
Ralph Wiggum
I'd say that if you give your catch away, you're no longer in posession of them. But I guess that's a little fuzzy, too. I guess I'm really not sure.
bigbucks
I'm not sure how that works. I think if they have them in posession & have a license no problem. If they don't have a license I think technically for them not to be in trouble they'd have to be marked as from you & then they'd still count in your posession limit. Now how any CO's going to know they have fish in their freezer I'm not sure. I suppose if they'd been watching you & know you'd been taking a lot of fish & they figured out the family connection, I don't know, that's getting pretty gray. EYEHUNTER10
Too gray, and in fact kinda Gay, we shouldnt try to feed all are freinds and relatives and neigbors just so we can go catch more fish, they like to fish too, so do them a favor and make them go catch there own or bring them with you to catch some, I think giving fish away is wrong if you do it all the time at least take what you can eat you and your houshold let the rest go, and you wont have to worry about a thing. Frozen fish aren't quite as good anyhow, just my opinion I've seen way to much of people giving limits of fish away to the guy next to them so thay can keep fishing etc . . Ralph Wiggum
It's such a gray area. I'd have no problem giving my grandparents some fish and also having my own, but I wouldn't go fishing, give the fish away, then go back out and keep more on the same day. That seems quite unethical to me, even if it is legal. If you give someone fish one day and go out the next and catch more, there is no reason for the DNR to even question the legality, to, so even if this is illegal, it'd be darn hard to enforce. jerkin'm
So eyehunter, you're saying I should tell my 85 year old grandmother to go catch her own when she asks me to bring her some fish? And my neighbor, who is nice enough to keep an eye on my cabin, plow the driveway, monitor the propane level in the tank, etc...but doesn't like to fish, just eat a few. Tell him to go get his own? You are lumping far too many people together in the same group. It's not about "feeding friends and neighbors". Get a clue.
EYEHUNTER10
You know what I mean dude get real you know i'm not saying that, and I never accused you of anything, I'm talking about a few people that make it bad on the rest of us you know the type and I'm sure you seen the guy that told you he gave away over 50 limits of crappies last year or heard of the guy who buried 300 fish in a snow bank these people give there fish away thats the only reson they do it and that mind set just isn't acceptable these days sorry man you just probably haven't seen the things I have the last few seasons thats all If we all did that we could just as wel take up golfing ya know?? EYEHUNTER10
For the record I'm not lumping anybody together as I know practicaly no one in these forums I'm just stating my opinions from what I see, why try to see as close as you can get to breaking the law with out actually doing it anyways its kinda dumb like most every law they are not well enforced and I'm just trying to get a few points across that concern me and rule-bending is just as bad as poaching I'm serious I see this stuff so much it makes me want to hurl!! I'm sure most Fm'ers don't fall in this category anyhow or we wouldn't spend so much time here simply put most of us care a great deal or we wouldn't be here in the first place. jerkin'm
If you see "stuff" do something about it. Call TIP, that's what it's for. Whining does virtually nothing.

jerkin'm
Your "thoughts" include seeing illegal fishing activity. Sorry, but you have to do something when you see that kind of activity. Some of your "thoughts" also slammed others/ You're right about one thing, enough said.

jerkin'm
Dude,I want some of what you're smokin'! You have to be an A-hole to turn in poachers? The Tip # is right on the back of your fishing license. (800-652-9093) I think i'm gonna head to Waska for some 9" crappies now.
EYEHUNTER10
Real funny i just dont see why people cant understand my point its simple release a few thats it i'm just not the type to call tip but maybe you changed my mind I've never Had to call that number and maybe thats my problem if you seen these things you'd be disgusted to dude. I shouldn't get cut off at the knees each and every time I talk about good fishing ethics thats all I'm trying to say. Enjoy the crappie fishing sorry to make you sore. When you get here take a good hard look around and then on your way home ask your self if it was the same way as last time you were here? The fishery has depleted pretty bad. This will be the last time I get cut off at the knees for wanting to preach a little C&R i'm done thats it!!
EYEHUNTER10
For the record theres nothing wrong with giving your grandparents fish I do it sometimes to thats not quite what I meant though by what I said.
jerkin'm
Never fished Waska in my life. Just messin' with yah. Saw your thread earlier. I am a huge C&R fan myself. I don't like people telling me what I do with fish when I decide to keep a few. One of my favorite lakes got hammered this winter and the size structure was destroyed, so I feel your pain. Unfortunately you are preaching to the wrong people (mostly) on this forum. (Sorry about the Waska shot)
EYEHUNTER10
K man your right preachin to the wrong people I see that now and i'll let the blood cool down just a bit and realize that. Hey I love fishing I just hate to see the direction this world we live in is going lately. I don't like golf and would hate to have to resort to that someday!! I guess none of this will matter if we all get nuked off the face of the earth anyhow Thanks Guy
