The Grebe
I've told this one before, but I believe my weirdest catch was a Compound Bow out of Mille Lacs....Thought I had a turtle! Someone hunting Carp probably accidently kicked it overboard? Sold it for $50.00!I also caught a guys lip one time with a fly and I caught a guys nose with a plug! I caught myself a few times, once through the top of my knuckle with a Rapala, one of two times I've had to push it through and flatten the barb.Oh, I caught a gull one time also, he grabbed my bait right out of the air...it was a successfull catch and release. My kid caught a duck and my bud caught a Muskrat...well, he did'nt actually catch it, he had it on for awhile and it got loose. I would guess those were some weird catches? icehousebob
Two of my little boys (they stand a bit over 6 feet) were fishing Sturgeon with some serious heavy tackle. One of #2 son's rods got dragged into the water before he could get to it. Half hour later, #3 son got a bite. He reeled in and found he had caught his brother's reel by the bail. #2 son grabbed it and reeled in a 48 in. sturgeon. It was 2 inches below the keeper length but at least he got his rod back. fishlakeman
Well I got a few good ones.First one happened to my dad who went out on a Mille Lacs lake fishing launch about 20 years ago. The fishing was a little slow, and he hooked into something heavy, it wasnt fighting much, but the people were gathered around and here he pulled up a 6-pack of Schmidt beer. He didnt say if they drank it or not. lolHeres another one that didnt happen to me, but my uncle. He was up fishing Eagle Lake Ontario 2 years ago fishing for walleyes. He hooked into a solid fish. he was using a 6'6 med lt rod with 6 lb test mono. He saw a flash and it looked like a very nice walleye maybe 5 lbs. Well the next time he got it near the surface, a muskie comes out of nowhere and t-bones the walleye. He has the muskie on for a minute and is able to get it in the net. The walleye measured 25 inches, and the musky measured 56 inches!!! He took a few pictures and got both back into the water. Had it not just finished spauning, the conservation officer said it would've set the providence record. I have pictures of the muskie, but dont have shutterfly or whatever to post them, but I could e-mail them to someone if one of you is willing to post them for me. poutpro
koWALLEYEski you should tell them about that time that we were fishing crappies in the reeds and you snagged one and were pulling in a weed when that big pike hit.
koWALLEYEski
How about this one. I was fishing a prvate late for northern pike. Well anyways we had a pretty good day fishing and brought a couple pike home for some dinner. Nothing was werid until we started cleaning them. The smallest pike we cleaned looked like it had a hot dog in its stomach. Well opened it up and sure enough it was a whole hot dog with some char marks on it from a grill!! I have never seen this before but the fish must have ate it that morning.
Riverfishin
Last year I was fishing at Gavins Point Dam in South dakota for Walleye and I thought I had on a monster walleye, it turned out to be a 15 paddlefish that a snagged in the tail. RalphTheNoober
HERE'S ONE FOR ALL YOU FISHERMEN. LAST WEEK BLACKSPORTSMAN AND MYSELF WERE FISHING ON THE MISSISSIPPI. WE WERE TALKING ABOUT THE BIG FLATHEAD CATFISH, WHICH I NEVER SEEN BEFORE IN MY LIFE. WHILE FISHING ON THE SHORE, WE WERE KIDDIN' AROUND THAT MAYBE I'LL GET TO CATCH ONE THIS SEASON. ALL OF A SECOND LATER,BLACKSPORTSMAN THOUGHT HE SAW A BODY FLOATING DOWN THE RIVER. I LOOKED AND SAID NAW THATS A DEAD FISH. WITHIN A FEW SECONDS LATER, IT STARTED TO FLOAT NEAR ME. HE SAID WOW THAT'S A FLATHEAD!!! SO I PICKED HER UP, AND MAN I JUST ABOUT [PoorWordUsage]ED MY PANTS. HE SAID IT HAD BEEN RECENTLY CAUGHT BY LOOKIN AT THE GILLS. SO I TOLD HIM TO TAKE A PICTURE..HERE SHE IS THIS IS MY DREAM FISH THAT I WILL CATCH THIS SEASON.. IT'S ABOUT 4FT. LONG AND ABOUT 40-50 LBS. AFTER WE PUT HER BACK IN THE WATER. AND IT DOVE DOWN,MAYBE IT WAS TAKEN A BREATHER. [image][/image]

fishface5
About 12 years ago, while lindy-rigging, I caught a full bottle of beer, (no lable), on the long narrow bar, in the middle of Sugar lake, N.E. of Annandale. I still have it. I'm trying to save enough $ to get it mounted. I've resisted the temptation to crack'er open. The hook caught the pleated bottle top. What are the odds? I don't remember how deep the water is, but I believe it's deeper than 20'!

poutpro
How long did you have to pull to get it to the boat? You think it would just let go of the walleye if it was getting jerked around, but a 5 lb walleye would be supper for a couple nights for that fish. jegerjack
When I was in my early teens, I was up in Canada with my father. We were fishing one day by a dam when I got hooked on bottom( or so I thought). I kept trying to pull off when I all of a sudden noticed that the line was moving. We all though that I must have been on a log or something that was flowing down river (my uncle thought it would be funny to see my reaction, when he brought up the possible dead body idea). After about a min all of a sudden it started going back up river, now we started to really wonder what we had. After about another 10 mins it started to make rapid movements that a log would not make even in flowing water. I started to make headway and it had to be with in 15 feet of the surface when it dived back down, unfortunately about 5 mins later it just snapped the line. On our way back to the lodge we all wondered what the heck it was, once we docked we spoke to the resort owner and he guessed it was a large sturgeon (he went on to tell us that in the rare case someone catches one they have to shore land it, he probably wanted to make it a bit more exciting for me). I do wish I could say I caught it and was able say what it for sure but it does make one heck of a fishing tale, plus everytime up there I can say it is still waiting for me...
