Hemlock
Just purchased a 7 X 12 last night. I thought I was going to build one this summer, but this one came along and for the right price. Newbie questions: Where can I get a "computer fan" that will keep the air moving, and not draw a whole lot of juice? The shack has some wiring (light socket on ceiling)...what kind of bulb should I put in the socket? How much more can I run with a deep cycle battery?Feel free to email me with your opinions... [email protected]

bobberal
Make sure they are 4.0 inches. The smaller ones do not move enough air. [Please read forum policy]
woodyjdh
For both the fans and the light bulbs, check on HSOList! You might want to take a look at 12v LED bulbs...they screw into a standard light socket. Also there are automotive LED bulbs that fit common sized automotive sockets...IE-1156 and so on. Wobbler
Big Chub and I bought a sleeper house this past weekend from Bowhtn. It is really nice but one thing we have on this house that I have not seen on others to keep the rods off the floor is a little rod holder that Bowhtn made that is cheap to make and makes lots of sense. You tack in a picture fram hanger to the wall of your house and put the part that goes on a normal picture on a piece of wood about 6"x6". You then cut some plastic pipe about 1.5 inches in diameter at an angle to the wood and make that pipe about 6" long. Screw it into the board and hang it like a picture against the wall of your house. Looks slick will be slick. I tried to put a picture on here but it did not work. Email me at [email protected] and hopefully I can send you the image if you want it!
riverrat56
What exactly are computer fans? and how long will they run off of a Starting/ Cranking battery? I would like to mount 2 in the house i built this winter, but the 3 of us who built it are all poor highschool kids, and i have my boat battery so i would like not to buy another one, it only needs to last 24 hours because we rarly stay longer than that. Also would we be able to wire in some lights then also or do we need to get a deep cycle to expect that? I plan on spending about 100 bucks a peice this year on it and we want to make 3 bunks (2 benches and a flip down, and insulate the floor with Ridged foam and recover that with 1/2 inch ply. I can get the ply wood for free, so that will cut out part of the cost. What do you guys recomend for a BTU and brand on heaters? The house is 7 1/2 by 10 and well insulated except the floor, but that will be.Thanks in advance,RR56
bobberal
I like the 120mm one better [please read forum policy] I run 3 PC fans for the entire weekend with my lights and never drain a battery.

wolfman-k
I just purchased an Otter Lodge (four-man), and it's insulated. I'm thinking that to recirculate the heat, I'm going to try utilizing a pet crate fan that's battery operated. I can buy a 12-volt power cord for it too and rig it to run off my extra locator battery. These fans are two speed and are a little larger than a computer fan and as quiet to boot. They come with a clip to attach them to a crate, but I'll figure out a way to hang it from the overhead poles. It's 6 1/4 X 8 inches high and it has a built-in thermostat also. I would think this could be used in a perm. house too.
