Earnhardt cheating?

Recommended Posts

Martin and Rusty dont win every short track race and Jr cant win every plate race, but we would all be fools to think Jr doesnt have a good shot Sunday. Go Jr

You are right, especially on a plate track. Heck, even Derrik Dope one one! It really is a dump shoot and as much as I hate the racing at Daytona and Talledega I'm drawn to it just as much. I don't really care who wins as long as it's a good race, not a boring follow the leader event.

Anyways, I was just trying to stir the pot a bit, to get things going.

Give me a plate race over one of them boring mile and a half tracks any day. A chance for a wreck on every lap, 190 mph, three wide, inches apart. Man, it dosen't get any more exciting then that. Superspeedways, short tracks and road courses are what like.

I don't think so, even Jr. can't win all the plate races we have seen that last year. So I don't think it will hurt them that bad!!! Of course this is just my opinion!!! grin.gif

GOOD LUCK AND GOOD FISHING!!

I will have to agree with Lee harveyY. Jr. is starting to get the same thoughts that I had as the old man. I did'nt always like the guy but always wanted to see where he was on the track.

In regards to Jr teck problem the other day, thats what all teams do to thier cars. If you dont push to the limit the rules, you will be in the back half of the field and any crew chief worth his salt will tell you that. You have to find that special something to be fast or you will be a field filler. Thats racing in any form.

If every team followed the rules so well, then you would not see the pre and post race tech lines so long and nascar would not have to check every little thing on the car and motors.Any little bit you can find is what it takes to be up front along with the rest of your race program. All the time someone is being fined,or gets in some kind of trouble, its the nature of the beast.I have seen at some national go-kart races where restrictor plates that were qne half of a thouseanths of a inch to big were dqed and the dirt going in the motor by way of the carb can do this. when going through tech at races with cars they are dqed because of ride height at the end of the race because it was set so close and the car settled during the race. Many times things can happen during the race and sometimes things are just set that close. This list of things could go on for ever.

If Micheal "I'm going shopping at NAPA" Waltrip can win or even place in the top 5 at Daytona and Talledega I think It completely diminishes anything Jr. does at those tracks. You can put a monkey in a DEI car and have a chance at those tracks. I'd like to see Jr win a few more races other than "plates" before I consider him an elite driver.

Rip I have been thinking the same thing. He won 6 and he had a good chance at Atlanta but wrecked going for the win. Not saying he is going to win it all I sure hope so I know I will be pulling for him all summer.

They had a monkey last year J. Andretti and what did he do?? Mikey just won the gatorade. Here is my 2 cents I think the guys at DEI know something that the others havent figured out yet. Maybe the old man taught those something

Nope, this isn't cheating, it's just being creative. Yeeeaaaaa, right.

Update: NASCAR has fined Pete Rondeau, crew chief on the #8 Chevrolet driven by Dale Earnhardt Jr., $10,000 for an unapproved third gear transmission ratio. The violation was discovered during inspection prior to the Budweiser Shootout. The #8 was in violation of Section 12-4-A and 12-4-CC (unapproved rear end gear or transmission gear ratio).

Recommendation: In DEI's quest for more horsepower during Speed Weeks, it appears that Pete Rondeau may have gotten a little creative. NASCAR busted the #8 team's crew chief. Earnhardt was fortunate that this penalty had no championship points attached to it.

HOF, you are right on that. It would be interesting to find out who is really legal and who isn't. You remember the rumor of the 24 car when Everham was the crew chief, traction control. Thats why they have the coils mounted up on the passenger side dash now, along with the rev chips. It was said that the "Brains" of the traction control where in the rev chip, and after the race the driver would replace it with a legal one, before tech. Makes ya think...

That's right I do remember that. It seems like when good teams go on a winning spree, cheating rumors always come up. I really think that anymore, teams know what kind of penalty they are looking at, and if they can afford it and it doesn't cost them any points, they go for it. I don't know which side of the fence I fall on...more Nascar regulation or simply let these teams use what is available to them to make their cars better? I would like to see what a cup car could really do with no Nascar regulations (just for fun, not necessarily in a race) and the team could modify as they wished. Go ahead, add the traction control, "illegal" shocks, springs, gear ratios, spoiler height, you name...it would be interesting to see.
