Wow...I left a huge impression on you. Now you've learned how to post photos and you're like a kid with his first Playboy! "Turn on the faucet and lock the door, you're gonna go buzz-yourself!" grin.gif

Did you hear what Mel Kuiper said on ESPN last Tuesday?

He's picking the Lions to win the NFC North next year based on how well they have drafted the last 3 years and the fact that they stand to draft well this spring. Also, that the Lions intend to go free agent shopping and spend some money...and that they have the deepest and most talented receiving corps in the NFL, if Charles Rogers can stay healthy. Those were his words. tongue.gif

This from the Lions HSOforum:

"In his event speech, Lions Executive Vice President Tom Lewand, stated the franchise's clear intentions for next season: Winning the NFC North crown and becoming the first club to play a Super Bowl on its home field. (Detroit hosts next year's Super Bowl.)

"It's our challenge (for excellence); we've got to win our division and we've got to make a run at the Super Bowl," says Lewand. "The pressure's on all of us...because we know this is a big season; and it would be the ultimate to be playing in the Super Bowl next year."

(In the 39-year history of the Super Bowl, the host NFL team has never played the game in its home facility. The Los Angeles Rams played at nearby Pasadena for Super Bowl XIV; and the San Francisco 49ers were a stone's throw from their home stadium for Super Bowl XIX in Palo Alto, Calif.)

It's gonna be fun...can't wait! grin.gif

Oh, and my Tigers are legit too!! Check out this potential line-up:

CF-Alex Sanchez leading off ahead of the All-Stars

SS-Carlos Guillen (batting second), C-Ivan Rodriguez (third), then RF-Magglio Ordonez (clean-up), and DH-Dmitri Young (fifth), then you have LF-Rondell White or Craig Monroe or Bobby Higginson (sixth), 1B-Carlos Pena and his team-leading 27 home runs from last season (seventh), 3B-Brandon Inge (eighth) and 2B-Omar Infante or Fernando Vina (ninth). Starting pitching just needs to go 6 innings and Kyle Farnsworth and his 100-mph fastball will set up closers Troy Percival or Ugueth Urbina!

It's gonna be fun...can't wait! grin.gif

Oh Lord!! Backherup has awoken from his winter slumber in time to slap down some of his infinite wisdom on us Viking and Packer (seperate) fans.

You started out a thread last year picking the Lions and Tigers to win their divisions... how'd that turn out for you? Would you like to try again? Whats this picture all about Backherup???? I'm calling shananigans in the Motor city!!

Lions blow the game.jpg

My god its guy on guy!! and you route for that team!! You need help! grin.gif

Remember this other highlight reel moment....

uh ohhh.jpg

I believe it was titled the kitties are still and always will be the kitties!!

As for your Tigers... they SHOULD be improved but won't win the Division... thats the Twins or Indians to have. Wouldn't it be nice to see your players be able to celebrate for once in the last twenty years or so.... it looks like this....

As far as Harrington goes...there's no way to get rid of him because of the way his contract is structured. They tried already! (Word is, they're going to go after Drew Brees). Harrington will succeed once Mariucci let's him throw the ball downfield (like he did at Oregon). They've hired Ted Tollner as offensive coordinator, who has more experience than Mariucci running the West Coast Offense (which I hate with a passion!), who has developed downfield variations of that "dated offense" and has already said, in effect, "why dump it short when you have Charles Rogers and Roy Williams to stretch the defenses? When that's done, you go underneath to Az Hakim on crossing routes and over the linebackers with Alexander, Fitzsimmons and Streets, and Bryson/Jones out in the flats..."

It's gonna be fun...can't wait! grin.gif

The timing is perfect for the Lions, now that the Vikings have sold...you can expect turnover, utter upper management chaos, hirings and firings and you'll have to share last place in the NFC North with the Bears...oh wait, the Bears are better than the Vikings even without their starters or Rex Grossman! I guess you'll be in last all alone... frown.gif

Ok...now for baseball...

The Tigers had the second best turn-around season in MLB history (last year), and rest assured they will improve upon that this year. I felt last year, that the Twins and Indians hadn't improved over their previous season...but I was wrong. The Tigers improved but still under-achieved after the All-Star break. After all, the Tigers ended the season 5th in the American League in over- all batting (Twins finished 11th).

Outside of Santana, the pitching won't be as good as last years first-place finish in the American league's E.R.A. stats (to Detroit's "respectable improvement" to 13th from 14th!! grin.gif) and the pitching should suffer with the Twins losing the left side of their infield. Believe me when I say, the Tigers will pitch a lot better than that! Well, we'll just have to watch and see...

It's going to be good to be a Detroit sports fan in the next few years...oh, and the Pistons should win it all again (if they can get by Shaq and his Heat). What's happened to your Timberwolves? Get used to it...the same will be happening to all your Minnesota teams... smirk.gif

bkherup, here we go again huh?!

Your like the guy who keeps getting knocked down for the nine count only to pop back up and start again....

1. You predict Vikes in last place next year.. We will all remember that one!

2. Bears better than Vikes... Put the crack pipe down... NOW!

3. Tigers 2nd best turnaround in 2004... They STILL finished l

almost 20 games behind the Twins!! and behind the Indians and Chicago (I believe)?

4. You say "Rest assured the Tigers will finish higher this year" Kind of a general statement, plus they were still near the bottom of the division AGAIN!, It's easy to improve twenty games in a season when you only win 50 games the year before!!! my gosh how embarrasing!! You will NOT finish with 90 wins this year!! NOT NOT NOT!! and NOT in first place!!! NOT!

5. Question for you oh baseball wizard... What wins baseball games pitching and defense or the big bats that give up on defensive skills??

Ask the White Sox brass, they changed the way they played ball and have switched to Minnesota's way... pitching and defense bro!

6. When a Detroilet fan uses the Name Johan Santana it should be said like this. Mr. Santana, Sir, almighty Cy Young in a landslide!!

7. Minnesota's Left side of infield may end up being better offensively, probably not Defensively.

8. Yeah the Pistons get credit for winning it all last year... props!

But they are not playing well at all and the Suns or Spurs will crush them if they get past the Heat. Maybe they could have another classy brawl on their home court and get all the Heat players suspended for the rest of the year?! I thought I saw you in the crowd at that game, weren't you the guy with the Isiah Thomas vintage tight shorts on and the bottle of Old English 800 standing over the Pacers players pouring your favorite brew on them? grin.gif

And as far as those "explosive" recievers detroit has. Hasn't one of them *coughcoughCharlesRogers* been hurt every year since he has been in the league? Oh and what about that big flop better known as Az Hakim? Better find a QB that can HANDLE a 16 game scedule. Harrington and McMahon won't cut it. Neither has the confidence of winning very much. Plus add that too expectations to go to the Super Bowl! Sorry for the 4-12 record mr mariucchi!
