New State Record Walleye?

Fish Head

Recommended Posts

Has anyone Else heard that there was an 18 pound new state record walleye caught on Lake of the Woods a couple weeks back? Someone emailed me a picture of the frozen beast about 2 weeks ago. I was told that it is being reviewed by the DNR as a possible new state record. My friend said saw something in the Star Tribune about it too. Other than my friends email, I haven’t heard anything. I would think if this was true, I would be hearing about it everywhere.

Has anyone else heard anything?

The only one I saw was the one caught by the priest in Sakatchewan. He had curly brown hair & glasses if that helps you determine whether it's the same fish or not. I think he was in the 35-45 age range give or take.

He does have wire frame glasses and thin curly brown hair. In both pictures he is wearing a blue coat. In one of the pictures he is wearing a green baseball type cap. This very well could be the same.

Huge fish!!!

The Minneapolis Star/Tribune ran a story on this fish in today's paper and how this minister's new record fish has had more tall tales than Paul Bunyan. The Strib did confirm it was caught in Tobin Lake in Canada. It was a good article. It ends up the minister has been using his newly found celebrity status to raise money for the tsunami victims.
