I hear ya.. I've been practicing my pitching in the living room for the past couple weeks.. starting to get my tackle organized, re-spool reels, etc. my wife always thinks I'm crazy when it comes to this stuff.. I have rods/reels all over the house all year... Hoping to build a couple rods and some jigs before ice out too..

I even pulled out the senkos ice fishing last weekend - that didn't work out real well.. I was wishing I had some of the lil' magic stiks as those would be a better size during the winter I think (the senko was sinking too fast for them). I wasn't really expecting to fish bass through the ice, but that is mostly what I was seeing on camera... I did get one bass on a drop-shot rig and missed another one.

When are you guys going to Lake Fork?

A bass'n partner and I have been discussing opener lakes, locations, lures, ect for the last couple days. These 40 degree temps are really giving me the itch! The wife even asked if I would drill her a hole in the ice so she could do some casting wink.gif Hang on guys only a little while to go grin.gif

Maybe we need to start a new post just for posting pics from last season?

I've respooled my lines... now am respooling 2 more to swith to vanish transition.... organized my tackle box... been flipping in my back yard..... and the sad thing is I've been out twice to the Monti area in the last couple of weeks, it really aint the same till I can get in the water and do some serious wading though.... Also been looking through Cabelas and Basspro catologs nonstop... my wife says she's throwing em out if I get that glossed over look one more time when I look at em... Moral of the story is dont go out 4 times a week during the whole summer it makes it that much worse in the winter.. (I'm still gonna fish 4 times a week in the summer though grin.gif just try and stop me!)

My trip to texas will help out a little. I would highly suggest for all you hardcore bass fishermen to check out Nelson lake near center ND. The lake is a resevoir that is heated by a powerplant and the water is open year round. It's a lake with an abundance of bass and crappie. I go every year around easter and do a combo trip for walleye on the missouri river in bismarck and bass fishing on nelson. Expect 100 fish days on nelson casting crankbaits and spinnerbait towards the rocks. I run into the In-fisherment crew recording shows almost every year on easter weekend. The only bad part of the lake is the hurricane winds in that area. Dress warm and prepare for windy fishing, the bass on the end of your line will keep you warm.

Went out to the river in Monti for about 2 hours this afternoon caught 5 smallies all on a black hairjig biggest one went 19" and was a riot on a 7' med spining rod and 8lb line!! she fought harder than most fish do in the summer (or maybe I am just not used to em anymore on lighter tackle) but man she was a healthy brute. That is definetley the cure for the bass shakes!! It also helped that there was 3 guys around using fatheads and all they caught were little 12"ers and under makes you feel good to be the only one catching brutes, and the only one not using live bait!

Going down to Florida next week for 10 days for the Daytona 500. Gonna try and hire a guide (maybe for Tarpon) over in Fort Myers area then go to the Miami Boat show and after all that try and get to Fort Lauderdale Bass Pro Shops on our way to Daytona. My shakes might be gone after that.

Robert E.L> If your interested I can give you a couple of the guides that I've use when I'm down there. I've been doing the back bay fishing for 7 years in the Ft Myers now. I usually book out of the Pine Island/Matlacha area. I've only had one bad guide... but God help me, he was the worst. Booked two days with him and only fished 1/2 day... and in a half day trip he ran us aground twice and crossed the wake of a cruiser that almost flipped us. You can grab my e-mail off my web-site. Have a great time.
