MercMan
One of my favorites....several years ago my Dad and sister had my sister's twins out ice fishing. The kids were 2 or 3 years old at the time and had a hard time letting go of their "nuks". Her boy Lance leaned out over the hole to look down it and tried to say something to grandpa at the same time, while getting a nuk fix. Well, you guessed it. Nuk in the hole. Nuks do not float either. I was told he took it pretty well that he messed up on his own and his nuk was gone. I think he knew dang well that his mother had several spares back at home in the drawer, so losing one was not a big deal.

Bigfife
Keys, a cell phone battery, and a pole for the portable. Keys have been dropped down the hole by myself and a friend a couple times. One time he dropped his keys down a hole and I ended up snagging them. He dropped them and then went to call his dad for a spare set. While he was on the phone I was pounding the bottom with my jig to trigger some perch and somehow I snagged the keys. The portable pole went down in slow motion. My hands were full and all I could do was watch it go down.
Fisher Dave
I wont even start on how many things I have lost down the hole..The worst was my keys when my jacket started on fire. My keys were in a secured pocket, but the flames took care of the security issue. I extinguished my jacket in the ice hole(I was on fire, 1st place that came to mind).I had no cell phone, nobody to call, and no place to call from.... The next 30 minutes was spent with a hammer and a screwdriver breaking the steel steering column in my old chevy truck with the temps hovering around zero... in a T shirt. The_Duckslayer
Quote:I had no cell phone, nobody to call, and no place to call from.... Cell phones can be a pain in the arse sometimes but there have been a couple of times before I got one that I would have given a lot to have one. The instace that comes to mind first is the time that I fell throught the ice while goose hunting. 45 minutes in the water... I was scared! They are a handy saftey device to be sure... Northland Sportsman
I joined this club this weekend, again. I was fishing the Rush Lake ICE Series event and thought that I had put my cell phone in my pocket. Well I guess it didn't make it all the way into the pocket of my jacket and when I stoof up it hit the hole dead center and is now in about 28 feet of water. I nneded a new one anyway. KatoMike
This past fall I thought it would be a good idea to take my cell phone out duck hunting with me. So, I put the cell phone in the breast pocket of my waders and headed out into the water (we decided to skip the boat and walk out because, as my brother-in-law put it "the water shouldn't be any higher than our waist" - well sure enough it was about one inch below the top of our chest waders and we are both 6'2" plus). Well at about 4:15 a.m., as I am wading around in chest deep water trying to keep my shotgun dry, my phone starts vibrating and I am thinking who the heck is calling me at this hour so I pull the phone out and see that it is full of water. It vibrated for the next half hour before finally giving up and dying. I would have been ticked at my brother in law, but he put his phone in his pants pocket and discovered (the cold, wet way) that his waders have a couple of holes in them. I think we ruined as many phones as ducks we shot that day...
