Recommended Posts

Had a year and half old 6 point come to my feeder last night. Could be why I haven't found any sheds yet...he still had both sides. Anyone else still seeing deer with horns? smirk.gif

Last year we didnt start finding any till the first week in march. We seen quite a few that had lost theres but couldnt find them. The first one I found was from an 8 point and was laying next to one of my foot prints from 2 days before.

In a matter of two days it was already chewed up pretty good. I just started looking a few years ago and never know how quick they disapear once they hit the ground. My boss on finally seen a little 4 point with one side on yet but the big 10 point still had his last week.Thats on the north side of town.

In our wood pile out back of the house I always see the blue [PoorWordUsage] from the rabbits but have never seen it from the deer?

Finally saw my first buck without horns. He is at my work and looks like he got hit by a car. Can't use his front right leg at all. Brought him some corn yesterday, got about 30 yards away before he got up, didn't know he was even there, and noticed the black spots on the head where the rack use to be. Could be the stress that made him drop.

I think they may be shedding up here. I was out for two hours Saturday but didn't find any. However I saw three deer the other day by the Thompson dam (see my previous post)and none of them had antlers--the previous time one had a average 8-10 point rack. Hopefully I'll get out there some day to look around. Course we got about 3-4" of snow today, so that will bury any that may have fallen off recently.

On another note, I know guys arn't suppose to share their dreams with each other, but I had one the other day about this huge WR class non-typical buck and I was like 15 feet from it and wanted to run and grab it and break off his antlers. I didn't have my bow or gun, so how else is a guy suppose to bag his trophy?!?

I am in north central mn and as early as december 5th I saw a buck with out antlers. That being said I feed about 25 deer with about 8 bucks in the batch. 4 of them lost antlers at the end of February. I still have 4 coming in with there head gear. They have got to fall soon. It almost seems as if the new antler growth will have to push the old off. Still alot of snow cover here but it is starting go, so antler hunting should get better.
