If you could only have 10 lures. . . .

OK, I know its absolutely crazy that any self-respecting musky fisherman would only have 10 lures, but if so which 10 would you put in your boat? I'll start it off - not in order of my favorites.

1. Blue Fox musky buck

2. Mouldy's Hawg Wobbler

3. Bobbie bait

4. Mepps musky killer

5. Bucher top raider

6. Bucher depth raider

7. Phantom jerkbait

8. Suick(weighted)

9. BullDawg

10. J-Mac jig and plastic

Odessy Viper

Dun Wright Dancer 7"

Musky Nut Wabull

Buchertail Top Raider

Musky Mania Jake 10"

Buchertail Depth Raider

Ok, this is a tuff one but here I go

1. Bucher Top Raider-Baby Loon

2. Manta glide bait-Wild Sucker or Small Mouth Bass

3. Bionic Bucktail-orange and black

4. ERC Grinder-White and Yellow

5. Mepps Maribou-Black and Silver

6. 10inch weighted Suick-Black

7. Bert-Black Perch

8. Hawg Wobbler

9. J-Mac Jig with Large plastic swim body

10. Pace Maker-Orange and Black Lace pattern

To be honest, I have over 200 lures but I seem to have the most luck on the basic black/silver bucktail and the Manta. I just like collecting those darn things. It drives the wife crazy.. grin.gifgrin.gifgrin.gif

7. Creeper

8. Bobbie Bait

9. Blue Fox Vibrax

If it were me...

2 single spin rad dogs - one dark, one light. Grinders would be ok too...

Mouldy's Topper Stopper

10" Jake - Tenn. Shad preferably

10" Believer, $9 Bass or Finlander

Musky Buster Topwalker

Magic Maker

Squirrley Burt

2 Burns Burner bucktails, one white/silver, one brown/orange

That'd about do me all year. Other baits I'd hate to be without of course, but I could make a pretty good living on these.

I don't know exactly how many baits I have, but it's into 4 digits. Funny thing though, I don't have a lot of different KINDS of baits - just lots of the ones I know I like...

Cheers,

RK

It wouldn't be that difficult to narrow it down to 4 baits. I am sure that most folks rarely use more than 8 different baits a day. I know that most days, I rig up 4 rods and rotate between those 4 baits all day and of those 4, one of them is in the water 75%+ of the time.

I have also built up a large inventory of baits and am finding that the more baits that I have to choose from, the more that I fall back on the ones that I know how to work and have the most confidence in.

So, for me, it would be:

1. a couple of Rad dogs

2. a couple of rock hoppers

3. couple of Blue Fox bucktails

4. some jigs with thumber plastics and tubes.

5. a couple of bobbie baits

Of my list, the plastics are possibly the most versatile. With some different sized jigheads, hooks, weights and other inserts, I can do everything (including topwater) with a tube that is being done with any other bait.

I'll probably put the rest up for sale....

2) suick 9" thriller weighted

3) Bucher dancing raider- modified-mine sinks-better action

4) Bucher top raider

5) Little Joe rubber lure

6) Jake

7) Burt

8) Bucher Baby depth raider

9) Figure 8 mini boss(a must have for lake wabigoon, ontario)

10)Slap tail

How about top 10 muskie lakes????

Speaking of lures I wanted to recommend a great place to buy muskie lures in wisconsin. It's the largest in the world for just muskie lures, you can search "muskie shop" on google. Somewhat pricey but you can find everything in every color.

A rock hopper is kind of like a Wade's Wobbler, but with a metal lip so you can bash them into rocks. The guy that makes them also makes Rad Dogs, but the only place he sells them is at the Mn Muskie Expo.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
