gag ice fishing rod

Heres an idea. Find a cane pole, cut it down to about two feet long and then duct tape a gigantic open face reel like a shimano 4000 series(or as big as a cheap open face reel you can find) onto the cane pole. Advertise it as the next "must have" for all ice fisherman. This was the idea that I had to give to one of our fishing buddies, but just never followed through on it.

Off and on at Gander, they have fishing rods about two feet long, with the rod handle, a short rod section, and ending in a fly swatter. They labelled them"fly rods".

I actually made my own from an old broken rod and a fly swatter and gave it to my father for Father's day.

He uses it in his motor home in the summer. I had a

broken rod because I broke two in one afternoon.

Has anyone else been so lucky?

The rod that I'm thinking of I have seen around and next time I find one I'm buying it. I'm thinking about the ice rod from Grumpy Old Men with the Mallard Duck for the handle. It was a totally functional jig stick too.

If they are a cribbage player I have seen a cribbage board made out of a wood tipup. I believe Gander has them.

Hanson, You are talking about The Green Hornet! (the mallard shaped ice rod) That movie had so many great fishing scenes... Especially the dead fish under the back seat!
