fry daddy
Most lakes in north western lakes have them. You need to check DNR survey. They tend to be easier in spring near river mouths but I have caught them in other times. you need a flasher to catch the dept of the school, they generally are 15-20 ' down. take a spoon remove treble hook , run a 18" piece of momo from spoon and tie a small tear drop to this us wax worms on tear drop and start jigging, they tend to have a soft bite. Fire up the smoker and good luck. Fry Daddy
BIGHAT25
Why do you want to catch Tullibee. We can catch a 100-200 in a day easy up here. They just get in the way of catching walleye's. They bite about 2 feet below the ice on the way down. Any type of jig they'll attack.
Deitz Dittrich
BigHat25, first off welcome to FishingMinnesota.com.. great to have another member not from Minnesota. Love the diversity. Tulibee can be a very fun fish to catch threw the ice.. expecially on light tackle. They put up a very good battle for thier size. And smoked they can be wonderfull table fare. Probably one of the best smoked fish out there in my opinion!
PikeTipper
I'll fish for anything that I could catch 100 - 200 in a day!
hip_hop_fisherman
No doubt, I'll agree with you on that one! If it can keep me that busy, I'll definitly fish for it!
rangr
Grew up in Fergus Falls there are alot of lakes in that area with tulibees in them. Ottertail is one that has some nice sized ones in it but they can be hard to locate sometimes. Star lake was one I have done quite well on with some nice ones too. Your best bet is later in the season, star also has some nice crappies later in the year. Good luck if you get in to them you will have alot of fun. Lost
Any good metro area lakes for tullibee's? Heck, I've heard of them but have no clue what they look like.
Deitz Dittrich
Lost, i could be really wrong here, but I dont think we have much Tulibee in the metro area. I think the closest you can get to the metro and have decent numbers would be Mille Lacs.
