jltimm
I was wondering if anyone knew if Fenwick makes a ice fishin rod?I would LOVE to have the sensitivity of a Fenwick for the ice!
iffwalleyes
I believe that they don't make a ice rod. If you are looking for a nice sensitive ice rod that a look at Thorne Bros series or rods. They are great rods. If you are looking for walleyes I recommend the 28" Sweetheart Walleye Rod. I have 2 of these and they are awesome. Probably just about the most sensive ice rod out there. I have 3 other Thorne Bros and they are all awesome. say_der
HT Enterprises makes a baitcast ice rod size reel. Works pretty well, they have an even smaller one that does not have the level wind mechanism on it - that one can be a little bit of a problem in my experience. KidWalleye
Does HT make the rod? I have the reels.
Matt Johnson
My dad broke a Fenwick open water rod a few years back, and I took the upper portion and made it into a pretty nice ice rod for walleyes, work pretty slick. But I don't think I've ever seen any Fenwick rods specifically designed for ice fishing...Good Fishin,Matt Johnson

Seabass77
Fenwick and Berkley are the same company - Pure Fishing. I think they just put there efforts into the lightning and genz line of rods.
Corey Bechtold
That's right, I just called the nice people from Berkley/Pure Fishing and they said that they have Lightning Rods in 18" light, 24" light, 27" ultralight, 26" medium, and a 28" light in spinning models. They also have the Cherrywood series rods that are new this year and they come with ultralight reels on them for around 15.00. The sizes and actions they have are 24" ultralight, 24" medium light, and 30" medium. If there is a specific rod action rod your looking for and are willing to spend a little extra then check out the Thorne Bros sweethearts. There are a lot of good rods to choose from out there, just no Fenwicks.Good LuckCorey Bechtold
jltimm
Alright, now that ya'all have answered that ?,where should I be lookin for these Thorne Brother rods? Also, how do the lighning rods compare to the Thorne Brothers?
Corey Bechtold
Some might argue that the Thorne Bros rods are better than the Lightning Rods but I think that for the money you can't go wrong with the Lightning rods. They are very sensitive if you have the right line and reel on it. I have 4 of these rods in different lengths and actions and love them all. Bushwacker
For Kidwalleye's question, yes HT makes the rod. I have two baitcaster rods for ice fishing and they are both the HTs. I really like fishing for walleyes with the baitcast style for my "left-side" rod.
rangr
I have a set of ice rods built by Midwest rod and reel. These guys can build a bait casting rod for that toothy critter. These are hand built rods but if I"m not mistaken so are Thorne Bros. Check midwestrodandreel.com
Bobb-o
I had a medium cation fenwick ice rod that snapped in half while i was fighting a walleye last year, no thanks on there ice rods anymore, i will stick to Rapala's ice rods
iffwalleyes
jltimm Thorne bros. has their own web site and they list all of their rods on it. Now the genz lighting rods are decent I have 3 of them. But, compared to a any of the thorne bros rod it feels like you are jigging with broom stick when jigging with a Genz rod. Just my opinion if you can afford it I would go with the Thorne Bros.
