I'm starting to get that dreamy daze. I went home for lunch and saw my orange out in the tree and I started imagining me in them looking at a big swamp buck stepping into my shooting lane..........

Ya, I know the feeling. I feel like I'm starting the rut, just like a buck! Throwing caution to the wind, driving thru stop signs, being nice to all the ladies, got a silly look on my face. And I've been hunting for over 30 years. I can relate to the apprehension just like everyone else! What a feeling that I hope never goes away!! The countdown is on!

Well you know what they say. If those feelings of weak knees, light headed, and giddy as a school girl on prom night go away, then you might as well stop hunting. Yeh this year is worst for me I think, because I didn't do any bow hunting like usual. Have a 4 month old that requires most of my time now, but give her a few more years and she'll be in that stand with me Can't wait. Sorry for rambling, but it seems to help.

Good luck everyone this season, there's lots of deer for us.

This will be my first year deer hunting. I'm a little aprehensive but also very excited to learn what all the hoopla is about. I imagine it will be in my system and this will become an annual trip for me!!

Melon,

Welcome to the club. The best part for most is not actually bagging a deer, but the evening after opener with the buds. If I had a penny for every time I heard "man, you should've saw etc...." I would be a rich man.

Good luck and if you have any ?? I'll be more then happy to help.

***Note: Not in Expert by any means, but willing to help if I can***

bbj,

You're a lucky man. I could only dream of that much deer hunting.

Oh, and you anyone notice no matter how early, or how much time you spend on getting ready, you still will always forget something.

Good luck

Can't wait for the next two weeks to go by! Deer hunting is the best seven days of the year for me. It's the time alone in the woods, the challenge, the stories of past hunts that never get old re-telling, the intersting things you see, the things you continue to learn. It's much more than antler size and meat.

Special,

I think that you do circles in your cubical anyway. I will remember to stay out of the break room when your in there as well. I can't wait until I can crawl up into my cozy little stand in the woods !!

FnH,

"Why I otta, to the Moon"

Don't you mean that treehouse in the woods. That thing must have a bathroom. But, I tell you it was our friend Bucky, he's back in town. Hopefully he will take my offer and go to deer camp with me.

Good luck also

Mine really does have a mailbox. When we built our new house we decided to get a new mailbox, what else do you do with the old one? It's a lot funnier by my stand than it would be laying in the landfill.

One of the Old timers in my group, god rest his sole, had a telephone mounted in his stand as a joke. He may be gone but the phone is still there, and gets brought up every year. Some say that they have heard it ring during deer hunting season.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
