anchor man
I'm planning to brave the weather tomorrow and try to scare up some birds at the public areas near Litchfield and Atwater. Don't need any specific spots, but just wondering if anyone has see much in that area on the public land. Thanks
fivebucks
I was out Sunday eve. for 2 hours and flushed 2 hens and a rooster. That's the only time in the area for the last couple months for me.
Snag
I hunted out towards Litchfield this morning on a WMA and only saw two hens. Heard a couple of cackles, and saw a lot of standing corn surrounding the public land.
LuciandTim
I'll be near Kingston and Kimball next week. A distant relative has a gigantic farm spread out in the area and I plan on hitting portions on Tuesday. Luci and I will be alone so I don't know how i'll do in those big areas. Hopefully I can find some isloted areas to pound by myself. I'll give you all a report as to how we did. A few years ago I heard it was pretty bad in the area but that was then...right? BDR
I hunted that area a bit 2 years ago. Saw some birds but I think them bieng so close in, they get hit pretty hard. You should be able to do well on private land. Tim, good luck! Lets hook up after deer hunting time.

Snag
My Dad and I went hit two WPA's around Litchfield on Sunday. As we were waiting for 9AM to roll around two roosters came out of some tall grass across the road. Then a couple of hens came flying out. They all went into the corn adjacent to the road. Hunted for an hour and didn't flush anything. Hit WPA #2 and Max managed to flush two hens. I have Nov. 8-15 off, so hopefully most of the corn will be harvested by then. Only saw a couple of other hunters.
ATM
I hit 2 different public land spots around litchfield today. Had 2 guys a pointer and a brittany. The first one we were at we hunted for 2 hours and saw one rooster. This rooster flushed before we were within 50 yds I got the feeling he had been shot at before. The next one we went to we saw a few hens and 2 roosters. Both spots we went to have some great cover. The corn is still the main issue and I do feel these birds as BDR stated get hit pretty hard. I will be going back every chance I get since it is close and I like the challenge of hunting educated birds. They are making alot of progress on the corn in this area. The next couple of weeks should be better hunting. Adam
